A blast from the past...On this day 12 years ago, I hosted another fun tea party at my shop in Georgetown.

There have been a few tweaks and changes to my tea party's over the years. FUN FACT: I baked cupcakes and made yummy sandwiches when I started my tea party's 15 years ago. The top pic was taken at my shop in Georgetown on the 2nd November 2013.

I loved my vintage decorated shop so much. My business name back then was Enhance Your Wellbeing.

A place where I did hundreds of massages and readings. I hosted lots of tea party's. I started my psychic development workshops and ran self empowerment and meditation circles.

I had a beautiful gift shop filled with a selection of 18 different scented candles with my own personal branding. Each one had a special name and my clients loved them. The shop shelves where filled with body treats, card decks, books and trinkets for the witchy woo inspired clientele.

So many fond memories are flooding back to me this morning, as I reflect on how much has happened in the last 12 years.

Nothing lasts forever!
Everything has an expiry date!

Sometimes I wish, I could freeze time and then sometimes I wish, I could fast forward time and be at my next big goal.

Elvis has not left the building! 🤣

The last few weeks have been crazy busy for me. As I go through every single, individual item of my parents home, from life built on 45 years of marriage, love and memories.

My days are fueled with decisions that need to be made quickly. Memories that take me back in time, to the fun and laughter shared with my Mum and Dad. Overshadowed by the grief that still weighs raw and heavy on my heart.

I wanted to share this memory with you...

I remember the day my Dad brought this singing fish home. It's not the most attractive piece of home decor, however, it did create lots of laughter and happy memories for my family. My Dad was a keen fisherman, so why not have a singing fish displayed in the lounge room.

The fish plays two songs. I recorded this 40 second video playing only one song, so you can laugh with me when you hear the fish sing. Laughter raises our energetic vibration and shifts our energy which is a good thing.

If my inherited singing fish named AL doesn't make you laugh, nothing will!

Samhain: The True Meaning of Halloween

Halloween, as many know it today, is a vibrant celebration filled with costumes, candy, and spooky decorations. However, its origins trace back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, a time steeped in tradition and spiritual significance.

The Festival of Samhain

Samhain, pronounced "sow-in," marked the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter, a time associated with death and darkness. Celebrated around November 1st, the Celts believed that on the night before, the boundary between the living and the dead blurred. Thus, on October 31st, they engaged in rituals to honour the spirits of the deceased and to ward off malevolent entities that might cross into the world of the living.

During Samhain, communities gathered to light bonfires, a symbol of protection and purification. People wore costumes, often made from animal skins, to disguise themselves from wandering spirits. These customs were not only about fear but also about respect for the natural cycle of life and death.

Transformation into Halloween

As the centuries passed, Samhain evolved. When Christianity spread to Celtic regions, efforts were made to replace pagan festivals with Christian observances. By the 9th century, November 1st was designated as All Saints' Day, or All Hallows' Day. The evening before became known as All Hallows' Eve, eventually shortened to Halloween.

Before commercialization, Halloween was a time for community gatherings, sharing stories of ancestors, and understanding life's cyclical nature. It was a celebration of both the seen and unseen worlds, a poignant reminder of the thin line that separates them.

Today, while Halloween is often synonymous with fun and consumerism, its roots in Samhain remind us of a deeper connection to the past and the importance of honouring those who came before us.
