Our space is made for little ones too!

We’ve created a waiting area that’s safe, fun, and inviting for children.

At Alike, we regularly see paediatric patients, and we’ve designed this environment to help them feel welcome while easing some of the stress that can come with medical visits.

You’re always welcome to bring your children along to your appointment, whether you’d like them involved or simply need to bring them with you.

Are you and your child visiting Alike? Sometimes we need to take their blood pressure 🩺

We’ve put together easy-to-read tiles to go through with them before the appointment!

This information helps children understand what to expect, so they feel prepared and less anxious.

Our team is committed to making every step calm and supportive, helping prevent unnecessary medical stress or trauma whenever we can.

Strengthening for Functional Tasks 🚶‍♀️🛏️

Getting stronger isn’t just about lifting weights - it’s about moving better in everyday life.

Functional strengthening focuses on the skills that matter most 👇

➡️ Transfers – Sit-to-stand, chair, toilet, and car transfers
➡️ Bed Mobility – Rolling, scooting, and getting in & out of bed with ease
➡️ Walking – Improving balance, endurance, and confidence with every step

These targeted exercises help build strength where it counts, so daily activities feel safer, smoother, and more independent 🙌

Train for real life. Move with purpose. Live stronger. 💙

Calling all new grad and early-career OTs 👋

Session 3 is coming up in 2 weeks (27/3/26)

The topic is: Communicating like a clinician: Skills for real world practice.

OT Sparks: Foundations for Practice is a 12-month professional development and supervision program for early-career occupational therapists, delivered in collaboration with Alike Health.

Designed for OTs working in community and private practice, the program supports therapists who may feel underprepared for the complexity of real-world caseloads, clinical decision-making, and professional expectations. OT Sparks bridges that gap through structured learning, practical skill development, and supportive peer-based supervision.

The program runs monthly and offers a hybrid format - in person at Alike Health in Newcastle, with an online option available for OTs across Australia. Sessions focus on real clinical challenges, guided reflection, confidence-building, and developing sustainable habits for long-term practice.

This program is ideal for:
✔️ New graduate and early-career OTs (0–5 years)
✔️ Community and private practice clinicians
✔️ OTs working with mixed or complex caseloads
✔️ OTs seeking structured support alongside 1:1 supervision

Flexible ticket options are available, including single sessions, bundles, or the full 12-month program.

👟 Footwear Modifications & Orthotic Solutions with Karl‑Heinz Schott (Pedorthist, Foot Power)

We’re excited to welcome Karl‑Heinz Schott to Alike Health for a deep‑dive session into sensomotoric foot orthoses, footwear modifications, and how subtle sensory input can reshape mobility.

This approach is more than biomechanics - it works with the neurological system, using the foot as a sensory organ to influence movement patterns.

🧠 What You’ll Learn
Karl will unpack:

• What makes sensomotoric orthoses different from traditional structural supports

• How sensory input influences gait through proprioceptive feedback

• Real long‑term case examples showing sustainable improvements

• Why early guidance matters in childhood movement development

• How targeted foot input can guide healthier patterns over time

👥 Who Should Attend?
Perfect for professionals working with children or adults experiencing:

• Gait irregularities

• Neuromotor challenges

• Foot function issues

• Conditions potentially benefiting from orthoses or footwear modifications

📌 Event Details:
🗓 17 April 2026
⏰ 10am–12pm
📍 Alike Health — 1/199 Corlette Street, The Junction 2291

OT Sparks | Session 3 ✨
Choosing the Best Fit: Navigating Uncertainty in Home Modifications

Home modification work rarely offers clear-cut answers.

OTs are often required to make complex decisions in situations where environments limit what’s possible, information is incomplete, funding or tenancy constraints apply, and client goals must be balanced with safety and risk.

Session 3 of OT Sparks focuses on navigating uncertainty in home modification practice; strengthening clinical reasoning when there is no single “right” solution.

This session supports participants to:
• work with environmental and structural limitations
• navigate situations where multiple options are imperfect
• balance autonomy, meaning, and safety
• reason through competing priorities and constraints
• make defensible, client-centred decisions in complex contexts

Rather than aiming for ideal solutions, this session explores how OTs determine the best fit - using thoughtful reasoning to arrive at practical, enabling outcomes that respect both risk and participation.
