Are you looking for a Paediatrician in Newcastle?

We are so pleased to welcome Dr Rakel Hansen, General Paediatrician, GDipChldHlth, BSci, MBBS, FRACP

Dr Hansen is a compassionate General Paediatrician committed to delivering clear, evidence-based and family-centered care for children from infancy through adolescence.

She works closely with families, GPs and allied health teams to support developmental, behavioural and medical needs, prioritizing clear communication and a calm, collaborative approach.

Originally from Orange, NSW, Dr Hansen completed her medical training in Sydney at Notre Dame University. She holds a Bachelor of Science (BSci), Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), as well as a Graduate Diploma in Child Health. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) in General Paediatrics.

Outside of clinical practice, Rakel enjoys spending time with her family and her 8-year-old son; and maintains a lifelong passion for horse riding.

Meet the friendly and experienced team who will welcome you at Alike 🤍

Bron is our dedicated Practice Manager, bringing over 15 years of experience in multidisciplinary medical practice management. She keeps everything running smoothly behind the scenes and is the go-to person for just about everything within the clinic.

Elise and Amelie are our compassionate Front of House staff, working diligently to answer calls, triage referrals, and coordinate both initial and follow-up appointments.

Fun fact: they’re sisters! Despite this, they work seamlessly together with calm professionalism and genuine care.

Meet Alexandra (Alex)

Alex is a Genetic Counsellor with a focus on empathy, clarity, and collaboration.

Alex works closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver person‑centred, evidence‑based genetic counselling.

Alex has been a Genetic Counsellor for over ten years working across a broad range of specialties including familial cancer, intellectual disability, prenatal, adult, and paediatric genetic counselling.

She has a Master of Genetic Counselling from the University of Sydney, and is a certified and registered Genetic Counsellor with the Human Genetics Society of Australasia (HGSA).

Alex is passionate about improving access to genetic services and empowering individuals, couples, and families with the knowledge they need to make confident choices about their health and family planning.

Calling all new grad and early-career OTs 👋

Start your 2026 with clarity, confidence, and the right support around you. (Our first session is this Friday 30th Jan)!

OT Sparks: Foundations for Practice is a 12-month professional development and supervision program for early-career occupational therapists, delivered in collaboration with Alike Health.

Designed for OTs working in community and private practice, the program supports therapists who may feel underprepared for the complexity of real-world caseloads, clinical decision-making, and professional expectations. OT Sparks bridges that gap through structured learning, practical skill development, and supportive peer-based supervision.

The program runs monthly and offers a hybrid format - in person at Alike Health in Newcastle, with an online option available for OTs across Australia. Sessions focus on real clinical challenges, guided reflection, confidence-building, and developing sustainable habits for long-term practice.

This program is ideal for:
• New graduate and early-career OTs (0–5 years)
• Community and private practice clinicians
• OTs working with mixed or complex caseloads
• OTs seeking structured support alongside 1:1 supervision

Flexible ticket options are available, including single sessions, bundles, or the full 12-month program.
