BUILDING SAFER COMMUNITIES.
More than 50 residents at The Cove Village in Fullerton Cove are now better prepared to save a life.
I recently had the pleasure of delivering a CPR & AED information session for these vibrant over 55 residents.
Residents came along to learn about the importance of being a Good Samaritan and how to confidently respond in an emergency, including:
✔️ Calling 000
✔️ Starting CPR
✔️ Using an AED
The group was engaged, curious and an absolute joy to teach. Their willingness to step up and learn these lifesaving skills shows the strength of their community & the care they have for one another.
This session was made possible thanks to funding from Newcastle Coal Infrastructure Group through their Community Support Program, awarded to The Cove Men’s Shed to support CPR and AED training for residents of the village.
With four AED units located throughout the community, it was fantastic to help residents build the knowledge and confidence to step in and respond during an emergency.
Preparing and empowering communities like this to respond during those first critical minutes aligns strongly with the values behind Heart Starters First Aid Training. When everyday people feel prepared, entire communities become safer.
Thank you to The Cove residents, the Men’s Shed and NCIG for supporting such an important initiative.
