π What Is Ankle Syndesmosis?
Ankle syndesmosis, often referred to as a βhigh ankle sprain,β is an injury to the syndesmosis, the fibrous joint that connects the two bones of the lower leg (the tibia and fibula) just above the ankle.
This type of injury often occurs due to trauma or twisting motions.
How Can Palms Allied Health Assist with Ankle Syndesmosis?
1. Physiotherapy: Our physiotherapists provide a range of treatments, including manual therapy to relieve pain and swelling, and specific exercises to restore mobility and strengthen the ankle.
2. Exercise Physiology: We design personalised exercise programs to enhance strength and stability in the ankle, promote healing, and prevent future injuries.
3. Rehabilitation: Our comprehensive rehabilitation plans focus on regaining function and ensuring a smooth return to daily activities or sports. We utilise techniques like ultrasound therapy and joint mobilisation to support recovery.
4. Education: We offer advice on proper techniques and protective measures to avoid exacerbating the injury and ensure proper healing.
