Our very own LaRochelle recently competed at the Down Under Championship in Wollongong, Australia’s premier multi-day CrossFit competition and community festival.

She took on the Rx Pairs division after four solid months of training, and knows firsthand how important smart recovery is after a big event.

Here are her go-to post-comp recovery tips from the team at Focus with Form Physio:

🌙 Prioritise quality sleep
💧 Rehydrate and refuel with nourishing meals
🚶‍♀️ Keep moving with gentle walking, mobility work or a light swim
🧘‍♂️ Spend time on recovery tools and breathwork
💆‍♀️ Touch base with your physio if any niggles have popped up before your next training block

Train hard. Recover smarter. Stay in form. 🩵 https://bit.ly/484FgAg

Running shouldn’t come with bladder leaks. 🏃‍♀️💧
Why does this happen?

Just like any other muscle in your body, your pelvic floor can become fatigued. When this happens after repetitive activity (like running), it provides less support for your bladder, increasing the chance of leaks.

Running also creates pressure in your pelvis. If your pelvic floor muscles are tired or not coordinating well with your breathing, that pressure can lead to leaking. Your diaphragm and pelvic floor work closely together; when one is off balance, it can affect the other.

Tips to help reduce leaks:
✨ See a women’s health physio to assess your pelvic floor strength, tone, and technique. They can create a tailored plan just for you.
🌬️ Practice breathwork to manage intra-abdominal and pelvic pressure.
🚴‍♀️ Include low-impact training days like swimming or cycling to give your body a chance to recover.

Remember, leaking isn’t something you have to “put up with.” With the right support, you can run confidently again! https://bit.ly/4qiaA5T

Ever wondered what we think about returning to sports after an injury?

Our focus for everyone is the end stage of rehabilitation, building and ensuring resilience and performance.
🏃🏻‍➡️ When an athlete reaches the final phase of rehab, it’s about more than recovery; it’s about developing resilience and performing at their best to return to sport with confidence.
🏊🏻 The goal isn’t just to get back to sport, it’s to come back better. You should return as a stronger, more complete athlete. Ongoing, structured strength and conditioning is key to maximising performance and reducing the risk of future injury, and this phase of rehab can often be forgotten. However, it is essential to minimise the risk of re-injury or new injuries.

Let's chat and work out a tailored plan for you and your recovery journey! https://bit.ly/474Ti3p

This October, let’s shine a light not only on early detection of Breast Cancer but also on the vital role of rehabilitation and support throughout the journey!

Physiotherapy can make a real difference in recovery and quality of life after breast cancer. It supports people through:
🌸 Post-surgery rehab: Restoring shoulder movement, easing pain, and improving scar mobility
🌸 Lymphoedema management: Gentle exercise, education, and swelling management strategies for everyday function
🌸 Strength training: Tailored exercise programs to ease cancer-related fatigue and build endurance and resilience.

Every step matters, and with the right support, recovery is possible. https://bit.ly/4mISOpe

I often hear conversations like this in the clinic:
👩‍🦰 I’ve been told I have a prolapse … does that mean I can’t exercise anymore?
🙋‍♀️ Not at all, the right kind of exercise can actually help manage prolapse.

Prolapse is common, and nothing to feel ashamed about. With the right support, you can move forward with confidence.

Movement is medicine, and it’s about finding the right approach for you. 💛 https://bit.ly/46805Kl

Are you the office ‘Shrimp’? 🦐
If your neck and back are paying the price for long hours at the desk, it’s time for a posture reset.

Here’s your reminder:
✔️ Take micro-breaks.
✔️ Stretch often.
✔️ Keep your setup working for you, not against you.

Your future self (and spine) will thank you! https://bit.ly/42uf137
