Healing is not linear but I hope it’s felt in life-changing ways. 🤍

🙋‍♂️ Why not make it a goal this week to pick one and take time to reflect on it?

Mine has to be gratitude for all my wife does in organising our daughters’ day and school drop-offs and pick-ups. This may seem mundane, but they add to mental loading and take a lot of planning around work and travel. I’m grateful!

Celebrating little wins can make a difference in your day and how you interact with others. Journaling can help you appreciate your little wins which can boost your outlook and confidence. ⤵️

“You don’t have to [celebrate by] shouting from the rooftops. You don’t have to tell anyone else. But you do need to take a moment to celebrate each success and notice how it makes you feel internally if you wish to overcome your challenges, build more self-confidence, and experience more successes in the future." - Psychology Today

🤯 If you’re anything like me, you get in the habit of finding problems after one is solved. There’s little space and time for clear perspective and reflection. Notice the pattern and acknowledge the rest you need and be in that moment.

Let’s battle stigma.

Mental injuries and illness don’t receive the same level of care and empathy as physical injuries. No one expects someone with a broken leg to walk, but much is expected of someone with a mental health illness.

‘More than half of people with mental illness don't receive help for their disorders. Often, people avoid or delay seeking treatment due to concerns about being treated differently or fears of losing their jobs and livelihood. That's because stigma, prejudice and discrimination against people with mental illness is still very much a problem.

Stigma, prejudice and discrimination against people with mental illness can be subtle or it can be obvious—but no matter the magnitude, it can lead to harm. People with mental illness are marginalized and discriminated against in various ways, but understanding what that looks like and how to address and eradicate it can help.’

Reframe your thinking — you deserve it.

“Learning is an error-prone process. If you’re not making mistakes here and there, chances are you’re not taking the necessary steps needed to improve!”

I was recently waiting for a takeaway coffee and saw a lady beside me trembling as she collected her coffee. I asked if she needed help or me to hold her coffee for a minute. She told me that her daughter had recently passed away, and this was the first time she’d come to the cafe since the passing.

I didn’t know what to say but told her I could imagine how difficult it would be and that I was happy to stand with her if it helped.

I think there’s a lot more I could’ve and should’ve done, but hopefully, this dear woman felt like people were there to care in small ways.

Lead with love. ❤️‍🩹

📣 Our words and messages matter. Consider this poignant message ⤵️

“If the worst thing of all happens, I will be here. And we will get through it together.”

Sometimes we don’t see the progress we’ve already made.
