Whyalla Men's Shed was one of the recipients of the Rural Health Innovation Fund RHIF Grant 3 funding round, for the fantastic work they do helping older members of the wider Whyalla community learn new woodworking skills, as well as having an outlet to socialise, improving their wellbeing in the process.

This program exemplifies what RHIF is all about – using innovative and creative solutions to improve the health and wellbeing of people in country South Australia.

RHIF, proudly supported by Country SA PHN, is thrilled to celebrate this incredible work happening across our regional communities.

It’s so inspiring to see Gather My Crew empowering locals with the tools and confidence to support one another, proving that even across great distances, our communities stay strong, connected, and deeply caring.

We’re honoured to help bring this impact to life for country South Australians!

In regional South Australia, distance is real.

Distance between towns.
Distance between services.
Distance between people.

When crisis hits, you can't always rely on physical proximity. But with the right tools and guidance, you can rely on community.

Denise works across the Yorke and Northern regions, meeting with GP clinics, community health teams, sporting clubs and local organisations so that when someone is diagnosed, grieving, or suddenly caring for a loved one, people already know about Gather My Crew.

They know there is a free app to coordinate offers of help.
They know there are printable guides to help them ask for support.
They know there are simple, practical resources that take the pressure off during a crisis.

Thanks to funding from Rural Health Innovation Fund supported by Country SA PHN Denise is spreading the word about Gather My Crew in regional SA.

Round 3 RHIF grant recipient Gather My Crew were at Essentials Day in Minlaton sparking fresh connections and conversations.

They’re weaving strong threads of support across regional SA with collaboration and meaningful conversations including how informal carers can be supported with their free app.

Together, they’re helping regional South Australians find strength in one another.

At Gather My Crew, we believe no one should face tough times alone, no matter where they live.

That’s why our work in regional communities is so close to our hearts.

When there's more distance between neighbours and formal services, it’s easy for people to feel isolated.

But with Gather My Crew, local support becomes possible. We help communities organise practical, everyday care so help is always within reach.

Thanks to funding from Rural Health Innovation Fund supported by Country SA PHN Denise is out in the Northern and Yorke regions, connecting with locals, sharing our FREE tools, and building the networks that keep communities strong.

From libraries to health centres to sporting clubs, Denise is helping people discover just how powerful community care can be.

This is what it looks like when a region comes together.

Regional SA, you inspire us every day. 💛

RHIF Round Three Grant Recipient West Coast Youth & Community Support is continuing to support people across Port Lincoln and Cummins who are navigating grief, with their Grief and Loss program.

Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive with participants finding this excellent and inclusive program offers comfort, connection, belonging and hope for those finding their way through life after loss.

Recent participants shared that learning simple nervous system regulation tools with WCYCS counsellor Jenny, recognising when the body moves into stress, and how to gently return to a calmer, more grounded state, has been extremely helpful.

The program is a fantastic innovation that encompasses community learning, healing, and growing stronger together.
