Yinyasa: Strengthen the Entire Body

Awaken your inner fire and ground into your softness.

This 75-minute Yinyasa class blends fluid Vinyasa movement with deep Yin stretches to create the perfect balance of strength, stability, and surrender.

We’ll flow with intention, build heat through mindful sequences, and then melt into longer holds that open the body from the inside out.
A full-body journey that strengthens your muscles, supports your joints, and reconnects you to your breath.

🌊💧Why a Daily Face Wash Works (According to Science): My Water Story💧🌊

When I was a child, my Dad taught me to wash my face with cold water as soon as I got out of bed to “freshen up”.

Dad didn’t have the science behind the effects of facial immersion but a lifetime of experience and a will to want to impart good habits to his children. ❤️🤗 Thank you and rest in peace, beloved, Dad.

As a child, my ritual of breath-holding with my face in cold-water in the bathroom sink, was private, intuitive and helped me to self-regulate. Of course, children need good supervision near water, especially while breath-holding, but my intuition never told me to push my limits. The goal was to simply feel better.

The habit never left me and my connection to the water continues to this day to help me regulate mind and body in an ever-changing world.

Blueback Freediving & Yoga is the school I formed over ten years ago to help share my lifetime of knowledge about the ocean, breath, and wellbeing.

Every morning, a splash of cold water across your face does more than wake you up — it activates one of the most powerful reflexes your body has:

✨ The Mammalian Diving Reflex

Cold water on your forehead, eyes and cheeks stimulates the trigeminal nerve and triggers the same physiological response we use in freediving.

Science shows this reflex:
• Lowers heart rate (activates vagus nerve)
• Shifts your body out of stress mode
• Boosts calm and emotional regulation
• Improves focus and alertness

It’s your nervous system’s “reset button.”

This is why cold-face immersion is used clinically in emergency emotion-regulation techniques.

Our Story

Blueback Freediving & Yoga is a freediving business dedicated to providing professional freediving and yoga training and educational services in Perth, Western Australia and on retreats around the world.

Blueback Freediving & Yoga offers certified PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) and AIDA courses in Basic Freediver (PART A) or Freediver (PART A & B) options. We also offer non-certified courses for individuals, groups and for corporate events. Blueback specializes in breathwork training (pranayama / conscious breathing) for holistic health and for beneficial preparatory relaxation training for breath-holding activities.

We offer personal coaching and private freediving courses anywhere in the world.
