Low vitamin D isn’t just about bones… it plays a role in the developing brain, too 🧠

There’s growing research linking low vitamin D levels in early life with a higher likelihood of attention, behavioural, and regulation challenges, including features seen in ADHD.

Vitamin D receptors are found throughout the brain, particularly in areas involved in focus, mood, and executive function. It also supports dopamine pathways, one of the key neurotransmitters involved in attention and motivation.

So when levels are low, it may subtly impact how a child processes, responds, and regulates.

This doesn’t mean low vitamin D causes ADHD.
But it does highlight something important:

A child’s nervous system doesn’t develop in isolatio, it’s influenced by environment, nutrients, light exposure, and lifestyle.

Simple things matter:
☀️ Regular sunlight exposure
🥚 Nutrient-dense foods
🌿 Time outdoors and natural light

Because sometimes, support doesn’t have to be complicated, it just has to be consistent.

Always speak with a qualified healthcare practitioner before making changes to your child’s health care or supplementation.

Most people think a posture pole is just about “standing up straighter”… but it goes a lot deeper than that.

When you lie on the pole, you’re not forcing your body into position, you’re giving it space to unwind.

As the chest opens and the spine gently extends, something important happens neurologically:

You begin to reduce input from overactive postural muscles (like the upper traps and pecs), while increasing proprioceptive input along the spine, especially around the thoracic region.

This matters because your brain is constantly using this sensory information to decide: am I safe, or do I need to stay switched on?

Prolonged flexed posture (think desk work, phone use) has been associated with increased sympathetic nervous system activity, higher muscle tone, shallower breathing, and a more “alert” internal state.

When you open the front of the body and allow the ribcage to move more freely, you naturally improve diaphragmatic breathing, which is linked to vagal nerve activity and a shift toward parasympathetic regulation.

So the posture pole isn’t just:
→ posture support
→ muscle release

It’s also:
→ a change in sensory input to the brain
→ a downshift in protective muscle guarding
→ support for moving out of sympathetic dominance

Not forcing your body to change…but giving your nervous system the conditions where it can.

Take a tour 🌱🪴

We love our plants in this practice.

Over the years we have gathered, grown & been gifted plants.

Our Devils Ivy is definitely our show stopper and biggest grower (you’ll find her in our adjusting room).

Can you name the plants in these photos?

Studies show that having greenery around can help:
- reduce stress levels
- support calmer heart rate
- improve focus and mental clarity
- create a sense of safety in the body

Happy growing!

Sometimes your body’s been speaking all along, we just need a moment to listen.

Tight shoulders? Maybe you’ve been carrying the weight of the world.

A stiff neck? Could you be resisting a new direction?

Tightness in your chest? Maybe a voice held back.

That knot in your stomach? Perhaps something you’ve been anxious to process.

Research shows our bodies hold emotions, when we tune in, the message begins to glow.

Discomfort isn’t always a sign that something is wrong.

Sometimes it’s a sign that something is changing.

When the nervous system begins to reorganise and reintegrate, it can feel unfamiliar, unsettled, or even a little uncomfortable. Old patterns loosen. New ones haven’t fully landed yet.

That in-between space can feel awkward… but it’s often where growth lives.

Not all discomfort needs fixing, some of it just needs space, support, and time.

SLOW DOWN!

Your nervous system is always paying attention, even when you’re not.

Not just to what you’re thinking, but to things like pace, movement, and how quickly you move through your day.

If you’re constantly rushing from one thing to the next, your body often gets the message that it needs to stay “on”.

Slowing your walking pace isn’t about suddenly becoming zen or forcing yourself to relax (because let’s be honest… that rarely works 😅). It’s simply a way of giving your nervous system different information: less urgency, less pressure, more space between moments.

Sometimes it really is that simple, change the pace, change the signal.

For the curious:
Research in psychophysiology and autonomic regulation (including studies on heart rate variability and the neurovisceral integration model) shows that behavioural rhythms, like movement pace, influence how flexible & adaptive the nervous system can be.

Like many in our community, there’s been a lot felt since Sunday night.

For many people, events like this can leave things feeling unreal or heavy, moments of shock, feeling frozen, or like it takes time to fully sink in. That’s been felt here too.

I want to say this clearly: what happened was not okay.
Violence is never the answer, and neither is hate. It’s deeply upsetting, and it makes sense that something like this, happening so close to home, has shaken so many.

What needs light, and what’s worth naming, is the way people showed up for one another.
The courage, the care, the doors opened, the help offered, and the actions taken to protect and support others in the midst of fear. Those moments of humanity matter. They reflect who we are, even in the darkest of times.

When something like this happens, especially within our own country, it can affect our nervous systems in ways we don’t always expect, numbness, tension, distraction, emotion, fatigue, or just feeling “off”. These responses are human, and they make sense. It’s okay to feel a little dysregulated right now. That’s been felt here too.

Take a moment, take many, to acknowledge what’s been felt, hold space for those directly affected, and extend care to our local community.

If things feel heavier or slower than usual, please be gentle with yourself and take things one moment at a time.

Hate may have fuelled these events, but love, care, and humanity are what I hope carry us forward.

Nature is one of the quickest ways to bring your nervous system back to now 🧘🏽‍♀️🍃

Sometimes the simplest reset is to step outside, feel the air, notice the colours.
Watch something small, like a bee doing its thing 🐝
And just for a moment… you’re here.
Your shoulders drop, your breath softens, your system gets the message:
“I’m safe. I can be present.”

A tiny moment like this can shift your whole day 🙏🏽

Silly season is officially loading… & word must’ve reached the North Pole, because even Santa’s elves have started popping in to get checked 🎅🏼

With Christmas only one month away, the December buzz is very real.

Our little visitor was definitely showing that classic “pre-adjustment feeling”, twisted, tense, and hanging on by a thread.
A few moments on the table later, and he’s embodying that familiar “post-adjustment feeling”, softer, more settled, and actually able to exhale again.

Of course, elves are magical creatures… but the reminder is universal:
This time of year can build up a lot in our bodies, so carve out pockets of space to pause, soften, and let your system recalibrate.

Even small moments of grounding make a big difference as we head toward the end of the year.
