PROTEIN AT BREAKFAST

A common challenge. Especially when on the go. Most women don’t get enough protein and breakfast can be a hard one to nail. This is my favourite creation at the moment - lots of protein, fats and energy, balanced, nourishing, healing, quick and really yummy!

Greek yoghurt, fruit (any/all), h**p and chia seeds (to really max up the fats and protein), dark chocolate chips because they make it taste awesome and have a bit of magnesium!

Having the seeds in the cupboard can really add nourishment to any meal easily and fast. This took a minute to throw together and the balance of macronutrients will give more sustained energy, and balance mood and blood sugars throughout the morning. There’s also lots of fiber!

Happy weekend 💚

The last time I was in Noosa for the triathlon was in 2012. Before 4 kids, before about 8 years of little people squirming next to me at night, before all the worrying and googling, before the juggling school and work. Probably quite a few years (and a heart arrhythmia diagnosis) when I thought this would probably never happen again.

If you’re missing something right now, it’ll come back. If you’re not really feeling like yourself, you will. It takes time but it happens slowly.

Side note, but importantly, if you’re up googling and worrying, please reach out. It’s the one part you can change. The right education and guidance around your baby’s sleep, understanding what’s happening and how you can help your baby and yourself get through it. It’s so worth it. Make those hard early years a little bit easier with us 💚

Dressed and ready to see the snow…… passes out! Quick snooze to mitigate meltdowns at dinner 🤞🏼

While we’re on it, as it cools down, one of the main reasons babies will start to wake up is because they are cold at night. Noticed more waking in the early hours of the morning? Try setting a thermostat on a heater in their room. A good range is 19-21 degrees. This will hopefully stop those dips in temperature between about 3-4 impacting too much 💚

It’s also a good time to go for a heavier sleeping bag - 2.5 or over. The extra warmth will help them stay cosy and hopefully asleep. If you have any questions about clothing, sleeping bags, temperatures, please just message us. Happy to help as the weather sets in x

Bill might just be the most featured family member on our page! He will be 3 next week. Here’s some sleep facts on him.

- Some days, like today, he still needs a day time sleep. It’s never in a bed. Does it affect his bedtime? Yes, sometimes he needs a later bedtime. Does he need it to make the day manageable? Yes, on some days.

- He sleeps from 7.30 or 8pm until around 5am. We have an early house so the early starts doesn’t bother us.

- Does he sometimes go to bed at 8.30 with his siblings? Yes. Is he still up at 5am after that? Mostly, yes.

- Does he sometimes fall asleep in front of a movie at 6pm? Yes.

- He still takes a bottle to bed and despite talking about the bottle fairy, he’s not ready yet

- Does someone still get in to bed with him occasionally overnight when he needs it? Yes. He has a king single. This was intentional as many adult hours have been logged in it.

- Are there 3 year olds everywhere doing a completely different thing to Bill. Absolutely. Is it all normal. Yep.

If what you’re doing seems unsustainable, reach out to us. If everyone is happy, keep going. I have found sleep finds a way of working itself out with age but there are things you can do to help everyone get more when needed along the way. 💚
