When we can’t stop thinking about our problems, our mind and life merge. We become lost in the illusion of the dream.

We could call this a “rut,” but it goes much deeper than that. Along with our actions, our attitudes and feelings become repetitive. And we form the habit of being ourselves.

To change our lives, we must fundamentally change the ways we think, act, and feel. Because how we think, feel, and behave is – in essence – our personality. And our personality creates our personal reality. So, to create a new personal reality – a new life – we must create a new personality. We must become someone else.

We all certainly need some more fun in our lives. Happy Saturday 😊

△ PLAY △
Have fun. Celebrate. Don’t be so serious.

Stop taking life so seriously; your spirit needs to have some fun. The more you play, the more inspiration will follow. Take some time out to do something, without being attached to the outcome.

You are being called to rest and play, and learn to have more fun. Do something that makes you laugh – the best medicine around. Call up a friend that you can be silly with. Take your inner child on a date. The more you switch off your mind, the more room your spirit has to whisper and guide. When we do things without being attached to the outcome, ideas, clarity, guidance, and solutions have the space to drop in. The left and right hemispheres of the brain can begin talking to each other. Make play a compulsory part of your day. Schedule it.

Spend more time doing things just because you love to do them. Just because they bring you joy and light you up. If you follow what lights you up, you will light up the world without even trying. For when you are lit up, you are in your spirit and when you are in your spirit you fall into flow with life.

How do you play? What do you do to have fun? What lights you up?

If you have been working hard lately, it’s time to celebrate how far you have come – all that you’ve achieved. Don’t rush on to the next thing, take a moment to throw a party, go on vacation, or have some fun.

△ FILL UP YOUR WELL △
Retreat. Rest. Refuel.

The most selfless thing you can do is to fill up your own inner well. When we are running around half filled, we subconsciously look to things and people around us to give us the nourishment and nurturing that we so deeply crave.

Nothing can grow in barren lands. You are no good to anyone if you’re running on empty. The feminine is bountiful, fertile, and rich. Tend to your own well and watch as the amount you have to give multiplies.

If your inner well isn’t full, you will find yourself craving things from the outside world to fill it. This is our body’s instinctive way of reaching for the grounding and nurturing that we are not allowing ourselves.

What nourishes you? What refuels your body? What is nectar for your soul? What brings you back to life? What is your secret medicine? What makes you feel abundant and fertile? Overspilling with life? It may be gardening, arranging flowers, getting a massage, using luxurious essential oils, snuggling up on the couch, hiking, sipping a good coffee at your favorite cafe, attending a women’s circle, reading about sacred sites, spontaneous bike rides, walking along the beach, or yin yoga.

What nourishes you is your medicine. When you give yourself the medicine that you need to be nourished, you nourish all those around you for there is more than enough to go around.

For a long time, meditation was sold in a way that made many people wary of its actual benefits. But now, we know this practice of sitting calmly, focusing on the breath, and watching thoughts come and go can actually produce physiological shifts in the brain and in our ability to cope with the stressors of life.⁣

Neuroscientists have backed up these benefits by observing changes in brain scans when people meditate. A regular practice has even been associated with increased grey matter in the hippocampus, the area related to learning and memory, as well as areas related to self-awareness, compassion, and introspection.⁣

It’s for all these reasons, and more, that I consider meditation a foundational pillar to good health. I used to think I didn’t have time for meditation but now I know I don’t have time NOT to do it—it’s become that integral in helping me manage all of my other many responsibilities and passions. Since starting, I’m happier than ever, have found the love of my life, and my business is rocking.⁣

You’ll quickly discover, as I recently did, that once you calm your mind, it is so much easier to make smarter choices about food and exercise. Your relationships get better. Literally everything in your life improves.⁣

The effects of chronic high cortisol and other stress hormones on our brains depletes brain power and leaves us tired, sick, and fat. You don’t need 30 minutes of meditation or an hour-long yoga class to lower those stress hormones. ⁣

A 2-minute breathing practice, yoga, or meditation exercise can do wonders for your mind and body.

I truly believe that what you eat is the single most important thing you do every day to affect the health of your body and mind. Food is the road to your fully expressed life.

Food has the power to prevent and reverse disease, and the more we know about it, the more power we have to curate a targeted diet to help us reach our health goals.

The catch is that we have to choose the right foods, the ones that elevate us, and simultaneously ditch the poor-quality ones that harm us. There are powerful compounds in food—like curcumin, genistein, catechins, lycopene, resveratrol, quercetin—that have medicinal effects on the body.

Relying on inexpensive, overly processed food is tempting, given our demanding lifestyles and schedules, but the cost to our health is quite large. Feasting on the sodium, fat and sugar bombs disguised as food can lead to serious diseases that cost hundreds of dollars in doctor’s visits and prescription drugs.

What you choose to eat has profound implications for your own health and the health of our society, environment and economy.

We have more power than we think to change our health and the world and it all starts with food.

Neuroplasticity is the brain’s ability to change itself. ⁣

Most people think, “meditation is a waste of time. I’m just sitting there.” But it ACTUALLY has a powerful effect on the brain. ⁣

I studied Buddhism when I was in college where I would go to 10 day zen meditation retreats. I would come out of there feeling like everything was crystal clear. The world seemed magical and beautiful. ⁣

Through medical school and becoming a parent, I kind of fell off it. I then picked it back up and it had a really profound impact on me. I noticed I wasn’t getting triggered or angry even by stressful events. Even up to this day. ⁣

If you can’t get yourself to sit down and meditate try journaling, deep breathing, talking with a friend, journaling, cooking, or even just going out for a bike ride or a walk. ⁣
