The Australian Centre of Trauma and Wellness Helping people return to wholeness after a traumatic event/s such as family violence, abuse, neglect

The highly experienced team at The Australian Centre of Trauma and Wellness have spent many years working, gaining and honing their skills to deliver a diverse service. The staff bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the working space, and understand that recovery from trauma is a process that should not to be taken lightly. The use of equine assisted psychotherapy and gestalt principles are utilized with other traditional modalities utilized as needed. We treat people as individuals and tailor supports and modalities to meet our clients need. Whether the trauma has been a one off event or a series of events, The Australian Centre of Trauma and Wellness embrace the concept of "wholeness", where the mind, body and spirit are attended to, in group and private session work. Our therapists believe that clients have the ability to their own recovery, and match the form of therapy to best suit the clients personal journey. Embracing trauma informed practice, staff will help clients explore their inner selves to find strength and resilience in their experiences, whilst having someone walk with them in a compassionate and understanding way.

Hi Professional Community,

By popular demand Kelly will be facilitating the Reflective Practice session Tracking the Nervous System on Friday 21st February online. The session is limited in numbers, be quick to avoid disappointment. Individual reflective practice and clinical supervision is still available on an appointment basis.

This reflective practice session, led by Kelly Murphy, Director of the Australian Centre for Trauma and Wellness, offers valuable insights for professionals working with trauma survivors. Kelly, a Level 4 ACA Clinical Supervisor with nearly 20 years of experience, will guide participants in understanding the nervous system's role in trauma recovery. The session focuses on the concept of the "window of tolerance," the optimal emotional state where clients can process trauma without becoming overwhelmed or dissociating.

Kelly will teach participants how to identify signs of dysregulation, such as dissociation or unexpected trauma recall, and how to track the nervous system to keep clients within their window of tolerance. This approach helps reduce the risk of re-traumatization and creates a safer space for healing. The session is ideal for professionals seeking to improve their trauma-informed practice and better support clients through their healing journey.

Addiction is a symptom of trauma. If you are struggling with addiction or have experienced trauma we are here to support you on your healing journey. We can’t judge those with addiction as we haven’t experienced the world walking in their shoes. We often get referrals for addiction but once we heal the nervous system the symptoms reduce and the need to addiction of choice will naturally reduce and stop.
