When we think of 'transition to school' , itβs easy to focus on reading, writing and numbers. But true readiness is so much more than academics.
Before a child can learn, they need to feel confident, capable and connected.
Children who can manage their emotions, care for their needs, and approach learning with curiosity are ready to thrive at school.
Primary teachers are there to guide children in reading, writing and maths in their first year of formal schooling.
But before those skills can develop, children need the foundations for learning, the ability to focus, self-regulate, manage emotions, and care for themselves.
These life skills start with us, at home and in early education.
Together, weβre building the confidence and independence children will carry into school and beyond.
