From overwhelm to independence.

A young adult came to us struggling with transitions. Changes in routine triggered significant distress. Their support team felt stuck—they'd tried multiple strategies with limited success.

We started by understanding, not fixing.

Through functional assessment, we identified that the distress wasn't about resistance to change. It was about unpredictability and loss of control. Once we understood that, everything shifted.

We built a transition framework that:
→ Gave advance notice and visual preparation
→ Offered choice within structure
→ Celebrated small steps forward

Six months later? They're initiating transitions independently and managing unexpected changes with minimal support.

This is what happens when we look beneath the behaviour and address what's actually driving it.

If you're supporting someone facing similar challenges, we'd like to help.

Meet the people behind every plan.

At Axia, our team is driven by compassion and a belief that behaviour is communication. Every day, we work together to create practical, lasting change for participants and families.

We’re here to listen, understand, and support real outcomes.

Behaviour support starts with one question: What matters to you?

Not "What's wrong?" but "What are you working toward?"

When we listen first, we see the whole person. Not just the behaviour, but the context, the communication, the unmet needs beneath it.

Person-centered support means:
→ Understanding before intervening
→ Building on strengths, not just managing challenges
→ Supporting goals that are meaningful to the participant, not just convenient for the system

It takes more time upfront. But it creates support that actually works, because it's built on dignity and partnership.

That's the Axia approach. Let's talk about what person-centered support could look like for your participants.

Why Axia exists.

Tara and Stephan founded this practice because they'd seen too much: behaviour support delivered without genuine understanding. Plans that looked good on paper but didn't hold up in real life. Providers who managed symptoms instead of addressing what was actually driving the behaviour.

They believed there had to be a better way.

So they built Axia on a simple principle: responsibility for outcomes, not just service delivery.

That means we don't produce generic plans. We listen deeply, assess rigorously, and build supports that are clinically sound and practically sustainable. We remain steady in complexity. We're uncompromising on quality and integrity.

And we hold ourselves accountable for meaningful change.

That's what drives us every day.

𝟱 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗼𝘂𝗿.

Transitions, sensory overload, unclear expectations, unmet communication needs, and demands without adequate support can all increase stress and reduce regulation.
Identifying triggers early allows teams to prevent escalation rather than react to it.

𝗕𝗲𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

Stress, sensory input, trauma, fatigue, and communication demands all influence behaviour.
Understanding the environment is just as important as understanding the person.

High-quality Behaviour Support is grounded in functional assessment, data, and ethical decision-making — not assumptions or generic templates.
When practice is evidence-led, outcomes are safer, more effective, and more sustainable.

𝟯 𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁.

A clear understanding of why the behaviour occurs.
Environmental adjustments that reduce stress and barriers.
Skill building for the person and the people supporting them.

When all three work together, behaviour change is more likely to be meaningful and sustainable.

Most behaviours of concern are responses to environment, communication barriers, sensory overload, or difficulties with regulation — not defiance.

It communicates unmet needs, stress, sensory overload, or skill gaps.

Reflecting on 2025 — A Year of Growth, Impact, and Purpose

As 2025 comes to a close, we’re taking a moment to reflect on what has been a truly meaningful year for Axia.

This year, we’ve had the privilege of supporting an increasing number of participants with complex and diverse needs — working alongside families, support coordinators, schools, and providers to deliver behaviour support that is ethical, evidence-based, and genuinely person-centred.

We’ve continued to strengthen our presence in the community — building trusted relationships, engaging in collaborative practice, and contributing to better outcomes across the NDIS space.

Internally, 2025 has also been a year of growth. We’ve expanded and developed our team, investing in clinical quality, professional development, reflective practice, and innovation. Our practitioners continue to lead with compassion, skill, and integrity — and that remains at the heart of everything we do.

From refining our systems and processes, to embracing technology and education, to preparing for the future of behaviour support under NDIS registration — this year has laid strong foundations for what’s ahead.

To our participants, families, colleagues, partners, and community: thank you for trusting Axia and walking alongside us this year.

We’re proud of what we’ve achieved together — and excited for what’s to come in 2026.
