Women with Disabilities ACT

Women with Disabilities ACT WWDACT is a systemic advocacy organisation for women, non-binary and gender diverse people in the ACT.

We work in the areas of policy, systemic advocacy and community engagement. WWDACT follows a human rights philosophy, based on the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and the Convention on the Elimination of (All Forms Of) Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW). We work with government and non-government organisations to improve the status and lives of women with disabilities in the ACT and surrounding region.

Today is the International Transgender Day of Visibility, a day where we celebrate trans people living their authentic lives and raise awareness of the discrimination they face. WWDACT supports trans, non binary, and gender diverse people being able to live their lives as who they are at our events and in our systemic advocacy.

We also acknowledge that visibility is a privilege for many trans people worldwide, especially considering recent events. Trans and gender diverse people are also more likely to have disabilities than cisgender people, meaning many face intersectional discrimination and inequality, compounding their disadvantage. Disability justice and gender equality go hand in hand - you cannot have one without the other.

Trans & gender diverse people are welcomed, accepted, and respected here at WWDACT, and we celebrate their achievements.

This Friday 20th March is your last chance to donate to the Canberra Day Appeal! Help us reach our goal of $10,000 by donating today at https://canberra-day-appeal-2026.raiselysite.com/o/women-with-disabilities-act

There are less than 24 hours left to give where you live to support the wonderful organisations in our community, working with those in need. A reminder that every $1 you donate becomes $2 for the first $2,500 - so $2.5k turns into $5k!

All donations to WWDACT will go towards supporting senior women with disabilities, our peer events and workshops, and other initiatives to support the next generation of disability advocates and leaders.
