Did you know, today is Piano Day? It might seem a bit random and amusing to have a day dedicated to Pianos. But Piano Day is an annual worldwide event that takes place on the 88th day of the year.

Nils Frahm asked and answered the question for you - “Why does the world need a Piano Day? For many reasons. But mostly, because it doesn’t hurt to celebrate the piano and everything around it: performers, composers, piano builders, tuners, movers and most important, the listener.”

Our team has seen first hand the incredible power music has on people with cognitive conditions such as dementia. Even more inspiring are those who previously played an musical instrument such as the piano. Even with severe inabilities to remember everyday memories, processes or task the brain is able to execute the complex finger movements, rhythm and timing without error.

Very timely, Louis (Physiotherapist) recently shared his funny story where he pick up an old Kawai Electric Organ on the verge and lugged it back home in his small hatchback. He has since learned one new song after discovering his passion for the instrument.

Many pianos are not being played. At the same time there are countless aspiring pianists who cannot afford to own a piano. Piano Day gives an opportunity for the holders of the unused pianos to place them where they can be enjoyed by a lot of people.
