Happy new year everyone! 🎆 🎊

As 2025 comes to a close, we’re feeling deeply grateful for the memories made and the lives we’ve had the privilege of overlapping with this year 🦋

This year, we welcomed two new staff members, embraced a brand refresh, and collaborated with incredible partners including AGWA, Spare Parts, and a range of aged care facilities. We continued working alongside our regular artists and were honoured to welcome new ones - meeting each person exactly where they are in their creative journey.

As always, our work remains grounded in our purpose: challenging dementia by encouraging the development of creative minds.

There are big changes ahead, and we look forward to sharing more in the new year. For now, we wish everyone a safe, memorable ride into 2026 ✨💜

MERRY CHRISTMAS! 🎅🎊

This year, we’re decorating our Christmas tree with cherished memories from the year. 🎄
While Christmas can be a time of joy, it can also be a time when reflecting on the changes since last Christmas brings tenderness, grief, or mixed emotions.

Wherever this season meets you, we hold space for both the joy and the difficulty, and wish you a safe and warm Christmas ❤️💚

Open the doors and countdown with us for a Christmas Eve surprise (SOUND ON!) 🎄✨

The words aren’t perfect but the joy and laughter is. A very Merry Christmas Eve from all of us at Mind the Change! 🦋🎅

Over the past few weeks, MTC facilitator Lily and YOD artist Jen have slowly brought this beautiful house artwork to life - layer by layer, tape line by tape line. From colour play and dancing breaks to patient tracing and problem-solving, each session added a little more confidence, joy, and character. We’re so proud of Jen’s focus, creativity and persistence as the piece finally came together. 🏡✨🦋

Our final Creative Encounters Workshop of the year with AGWA closed out 2025 on the most vibrant note. Inspired by Elise Blumann: Music in Motion, we travelled through eras of music and watched our art transform along the way.

From dark classical sketchwork in charcoal… to smooth-jazz blues and greens… to the bold sunshine palette of the 60s and 70s… and finally a loop-pedal improvisation where our artists sang, shook stones, clanged metal, hummed, jumped and yelled their way into a one-of-a-kind collaborative track -
paired with dreamy pink and purple artworks. 🩷💜🎶

So much laughter, so much creativity, and such a perfect way to round off the year. Endless gratitude to AGWA for this beautiful collaboration.🦋🦋

Swipe through the eras and hear our original loop at the end! 🎶🎶

Our Carine Parkside workshop took a playful turn last week when a crowd of little wooden mannequins - featuring our honorary guest, Pinocchio - joined the table. 🎨🪵

Everyone approached them in their own way: tracing the figures, following their shadows, or sketching freely from observation. The results? A whole gallery of unique perspectives. Some pieces leaned realistic, others burst into symbolic shapes, colours, and patterns - all of them thoughtful and full of character.

Such beautiful work from our artists once again. ✨

Our YOD artists Frank and Krystyna joined us for this wonderful exhibition tour, where we found ourselves mimicking conductors and marvelling at how Blumann’s work evolved across mediums. We also couldn’t help but laugh imagining her first encounter with an Aussie surfer - what a sight that must’ve been! 🌊🎶

AGWA’s “Music in Motion” exhibit included rarely displayed pieces from Elise Blumann’s later career, celebrating her dynamic approach to movement, energy, and the Australian landscape. 🦘🖼️🦋

“Squeegee Art: Not Just for Windows” ✨
Our Carine artists traded brushes for squeegees this week, creating dynamic swirls of colour and texture - proof that creativity can shine in even the simplest of strokes.

October’s Creative Encounters workshop with AGWA was all about imagination and play! Using old magazines, glue, and a photo album base, everyone designed their own fantasy landscape - layering colours, textures, and images to create something truly one-of-a-kind. 🎨💭

The room was full of laughter and surprise - from stunning sunsets to a chicken rocking a party hat! 🐔🎉 Each collage told its own story, and everyone left feeling proud, inspired, and full of creative energy.

During the wet and woolly September, a rainmaker may have been a little redundant but nevertheless, Frank and Brittany dove into the project with full hearts and curious hands! 🌧️🎶 Over two lively sessions, they painted a vibrant, textured design, experimented with grains and legumes to create different sounds, and hammered nails with growing confidence. 🔨🫘

Between heartfelt singalongs, shared laughter, and a few tender moments, they transformed a simple tube into a colourful, musical creation - a reminder that creativity and connection can brighten even the stormiest days. 🌈

A little throwback to this simple activity that really packed a (hole)PUNCH! Inspired by the repeating patterns and bold, striking colours of Minaxi May, our artists at Melville Parkside were all struck by the convenience and freedom of the large, multi-shape holepunchers to create their own unique pieces! We focused on creating movement, colour cohesion, and drawing the eye in. 🔵🔻🔸🟪💠

We are super excited to visit the interactive Minaxi May exhibition at artgallerywa ASAP for even more inspiration! 🎨🦋
