🌞 7 Summer Savvy Tips 🌞

Summer can be a great time to get out and enjoy the sunshine, but it’s also important to take a few extra steps to stay safe and well. Here are our 7 summer-savvy tips to help you feel comfortable and confident during the warmer months:

1️⃣ Stay hydrated – Drink water regularly, even if you don’t feel thirsty.
2️⃣ Dress for the heat – Light, loose clothing and a hat can make a big difference.
3️⃣ Plan outings wisely – Try to head out earlier in the morning or later in the afternoon when it’s cooler.
4️⃣ Use sun protection – Sunscreen, shade and sunglasses help protect your skin and eyes.
5️⃣ Keep cool at home – Fans, air-conditioning, or cool showers can help regulate body temperature.
6️⃣ Know your limits – It’s okay to slow down or rest when your body needs it.

𝗪𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘆'𝘀 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁

"When we first accessed the NDIS, we felt completely overwhelmed. Understanding Wendy’s plan and how to use the funds was confusing and stressful. Michael from Metrocare changed everything for us. He explained the plan in a way that was easy to understand and gave us practical examples so Wendy could get the most out of her supports. His reassurance made us feel comfortable inviting support workers into our home.

Our first support worker wasn’t the right fit, but Michael listened and matched Wendy with Margaret, who is incredible. She understands Wendy’s needs, works at her pace, and helps her enjoy activities like gardening, catching up with family, and going for walks. Margaret also supports Wendy with household tasks, which has been a huge relief.

Bianca, our Support Coordinator, is amazing too - she keeps in regular contact, provides updates, and advocates for anything that helps Wendy achieve her goals.

Thanks to Metrocare, we feel empowered, less stressed, and more in control of our lives. Wendy now says she has ‘greater control over my day’ and can ‘do the things that I know I can do.’ The pressure we felt is gone, and our relationship is healthier and happier. We couldn’t recommend Metrocare enough!"
