Important update for parents and carers in Australia

From 10 December 2025, Australia’s new Social Media Minimum Age law will come into effect. This applies to major platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat and Reddit.

What is changing
• Social media companies must take stronger steps to prevent anyone under 16 from having or creating an account.
• Some platforms have already begun closing or limiting under-16 accounts.
• Age verification will become more strict across all major apps.

What this means for families
• Young people under 16 may lose access to their current accounts.
• You may be asked to confirm your child’s age or provide identification.
• These changes aim to improve online safety and reduce exposure to harmful content.

How to support your young person
• Have an open conversation about what is changing and why.
• Review privacy settings, device controls and screen-time habits together.
• Explore alternative ways for them to stay connected with friends.
• Look out for updates directly from the platforms they use.

Feeling the heat? You are not alone.

Temperatures are climbing across NSW, and for many people, the heat can make daily routines harder, especially for those living with disability or health conditions.

At Easy M Care Services, we encourage everyone to:

Stay hydrated and rest often.

Keep homes cool and ventilated safely.

Plan community outings earlier or later in the day when it is cooler.

Check in on friends, family, and neighbours who might need a hand.

Our team continues to provide support during this hot spell, adjusting plans and helping participants stay comfortable, safe, and connected.

Own It – A Life Skills Program for Autistic Teens (13–17)
📍 Western Sydney | 🗓 Term 3

Not every young person needs more therapy or goals.
Some just need a calm space, the right support, and time to practise life skills in a real-world way.

That is what Own It offers.

Each week, teens build confidence and capability through:
✅ Emotional regulation (Zones of Regulation)
✅ Planning trips and using public transport
✅ Budgeting, decision-making, and everyday independence
✅ Social connection and peer interaction

🟪 Small group program
🟪 Based on SCERTS
🟪 Delivered by experienced and respectful staff

🌱 We know the teenage years can be tough, especially for young people with autism.

That is why we created Own It, a small group program for teens aged 13 to 17 who are navigating life with autism. It is a safe space to build everyday confidence, connect with peers, and explore their independence at their own pace.

Each week, we focus on practical skills like:

· Managing emotions with Zones of Regulation
· Planning a journey or using public transport
· Making decisions, handling money, and setting goals
· Practising teamwork, friendships, and community participation

🟪 The program is informed by SCERTS, supported by experienced staff, and built on understanding and consistency.
