The Canberra Day Appeal is a yearly fundraiser that supports local charities caring for our community. It’s a chance to give where we live, with donations staying local and making a real difference.

What is Circle of Security?
Circle of Security is a parenting program that helps mums better understand their child's emotional needs and behaviours. It provides practical tools to build secure attachment, strengthen relationships, and support children to feel safe, seen and understood.

Why the Canberra Day Appeal?
As part of the Canberra Day Appeal, every donation is matched - $10 becomes $20, $50 becomes $100!

As this family prepares for the months ahead, they’ll be navigating a significant period away from work, ongoing medical appointments, and travel to Sydney so loved ones can be nearby during recovery.

Funds raised will help support them with:

• Living and utility expenses during this time
• Travel and accommodation for family carers
• Return trips so their children can visit during recovery
• Out-of-pocket costs for medications and follow-up care

By easing some of these practical burdens, we can help this family focus on what matters most - healing, rest, and being together.

If you have any 00000 baby clothes you’d be willing to donate, we would be so grateful!

We also accept quality preloved baby and kids clothing up to size 2, as well as all sizes of maternity clothing if you happen to have any of these as well.

If you’ve ever wanted to give back, but weren’t sure what that would actually look like, this might be for you.

Our Volunteer Information Session is a chance to learn more about First Steps, understand the different ways people contribute, and see where you might fit, in a way that works for your time, skills, and comfort level.

We are currently supporting a lovely mum who just had her pram damaged in a car accident. This mum does not drive and a pram is vital for her young family.

If you (or someone you know) has a double pram you're no longer using and would be open to donating, we would be so grateful. Please refer to picture for the style of double pram we are seeking (top/bottom seats - including a newborn attachment and toddler seat). Any brand is fine.

2026 EVENT OF THE YEAR - QUEANBEYAN PRAMATHON!!!

Something NEW is coming to First Steps! 🩷

We’re excited to be opening a Family & Child Health Clinic to support the mums and families we walk alongside.

The clinic will run during the school term on Fridays from 10am–1pm, with our first clinic beginning on Friday 13th of February.

This clinic has been created for the women we support, many of whom are not eligible for Medicare.

We also warmly welcome women in the wider community who do not have access to Medicare to drop in and see our nurse.

Thank you for your ongoing support. Because of this community, we’re able to offer care, dignity, and reassurance to mums and little ones when it’s needed most 🩷

We’re reaching out to our beautiful community to see if anyone is able to help support one of our First Steps mums.

This mum has three children under the age of 3 and is being supported by a family member. Having an extra set of car seats in her family member’s car would make day-to-day life much more manageable and remove the need to move seats back and forth several times a week.

We are currently looking for two car seats suitable for children aged 0–4 years.

For safety reasons, all seats must be under 8 years old and have not been involved in any accidents.

If you (or someone you know) have a car seat you’re no longer using and would be open to donating, we would be so grateful.
