We’ve been busy behind the scenes at Hunter Ethical Disability Support Services 👀

We recently filmed a walk-through of one of our Supported Independent Living homes in Thornton and let’s just say… things didn’t go exactly to plan.

Emma absolutely stole the show on camera, while we did our best to keep things “professional” behind the scenes (😅). The bloopers? Honestly, they might outshine the final video.

But here’s the important part, Emma is looking for two incredible housemates to join her in this beautiful home. And if this video is anything to go by, you’ll definitely want to meet her.

🌿 Meet a Few of Our Incredible Support Workers at HEDSS 🌿

At Hunter Ethical Disability Support Services, we’re lucky to have a team filled with genuinely kind, capable, and caring people. Today we wanted to shine a little light on three more of our beautiful support workers who bring so much heart into the lives of the people they support.

💙 Amelia
Warm, steady, and deeply dedicated, Amelia brings five years of disability support experience and a background in early childhood. She has a natural ability to make people feel included, supported, and confident in their everyday lives. Amelia is skilled, reliable, and brings such a gentle, uplifting presence to every shift.

💛 Kristen
Calm, intuitive, and incredibly compassionate, Kristen supports participants with a trauma‑informed, emotionally attuned approach. With a background in Psychology and Clinical Counselling, she brings a deep understanding of behaviour, communication, and emotional safety. She builds trust so naturally and brings genuine warmth into every home she enters.

💚 Leah
Gentle, friendly, and wonderfully dependable, Leah brings strong experience in personal care, hoist use, medication administration, and PEG feeding. Inspired by her own family experience, she understands the true impact of quality support. She creates a safe, reassuring environment for every participant she works with.

These three women are just another glimpse into the incredible team behind HEDSS — the people who make our service what it is.

And we’re only just getting started.

✨ We’ll be sharing more staff profiles over the coming weeks, so stay tuned to meet more of the wonderful humans who make Hunter Ethical Disability Support Services the warm, supportive organisation we’re so proud of.

🌿 Meet a Few More of Our Incredible Support Workers at HEDSS 🌿

At Hunter Ethical Disability Support Services, we’re so proud of the people who make up our team — compassionate, reliable, and genuinely committed to supporting others with dignity and care. Today, we’re shining a little light on two more wonderful support workers who bring so much heart into the lives of the people they support.

💙 Kaden
Kaden joined disability support in late 2025 after wanting a more meaningful, people‑focused career, and he’s been such a natural fit ever since. He brings a calm, friendly energy to every shift and has a real talent for building genuine connections with participants. Whether he’s supporting daily routines or helping someone work toward their goals, Kaden shows up with patience, positivity, and a down‑to‑earth approach that people instantly feel comfortable with.

💜 Shauna
Shauna’s journey into disability support began through her own experience raising her son, who has ASD. That personal connection sparked a deep passion for helping people with additional needs, and her time in aged care only strengthened that calling. She’s incredibly empathetic, warm, and dedicated to creating moments of happiness for the people she supports. Building trust, forming real relationships, and understanding each person’s interests are the parts of her work she values most.

These two are another beautiful example of the heart behind HEDSS — the people who make our service what it is.

And we’re just getting started.

✨ Keep an eye out as we continue sharing more of the wonderful humans who make Hunter Ethical Disability Support Services the warm, supportive organisation we’re so proud of.

🌱 Want to join our team?
We’re always looking for kind, passionate people who want to make a difference.

🌱 Looking for support or exploring your options?

Kylie is warm, bubbly, and brings such a positive energy into every home she walks into. With years of experience and a natural ability to make people feel safe and supported, she’s the kind of worker who brightens the day just by being there.

💛 Mancia
Gentle, friendly, and multilingual, Mancia has quickly become such a valued part of our team. She connects so well with participants and brings a calm, steady presence to her shifts. She’s supportive, reliable, and always willing to go the extra mile.

Emma recently shared the sweetest Easter card with the HEDSS team, thanking everyone for the support they give her every day. In her message, Emma wished the team a happy Easter and thanked them for helping her live her best independent life.

Thank you, Emma. Your card absolutely made our day. 🐣

21 March World Down Syndrome Day 💙💛

Today we recognise World Down Syndrome Day, led globally by Down Syndrome International.

The date (21/3) represents the three copies of the 21st chromosome. It’s a day to celebrate people with Down syndrome and continue advocating for inclusion, equal rights, and real opportunities in our communities.

At HEDSS, inclusion is part of who we are. Every person deserves dignity, choice and connection.

💛 Wear your bright or mismatched socks

This Saturday, 21 March, is World Down Syndrome Day, and we’ve been celebrating with colour and creativity. 💙💛

Paul joined in the fun by colouring in his World Down Syndrome Day socks and proudly holding up his artwork with a big smile. It’s a wonderful way to recognise the day and celebrate inclusion, individuality, and the amazing contributions people with Down syndrome make to our communities.

At HEDSS, we love moments like these that bring people together and celebrate everyone for who they are.
