Corrective Massage Melbourne

Corrective Massage Melbourne Corrective Massage Melbourne believes in the fact that the body can heal itself given the right environment. This knowledge will guide the treatment.

Your body speaks the truth and is full of knowledge. Alignment, massage and exercises are part of it. As a German champion gymnast Uschi developed early on in her career an intrinsic understanding of the human body and the way different parts of it work together. This led her to a career as a physical educator and from there it was only a short step to becoming a massage therapist. Uschi studied a number of different body therapies. Remedial massage, Exercise for Rehabilitation, Cranio Sacral Therapy (Upledger) - a gentle, non-invasive manipulative technique which acts on the deepest structures and organs of the nervous system - and Myofascial Meridians with Thomas W. Myers (Anatomy trains). In 2006 she became a Dorn Spinal therapist. This gave her the final string to her bow of treatments to serve her clients in the best possible way. The Dorn Method is a safe and gentle form of spinal mobilisation that facilitates the realignment of the spine and peripheral joints. Most clients experience immediate pain relief after their first treatment. With more twenty years of practice, Uschi’s strength lies in her ability to give an intuitive like diagnostic which is rooted in an anatomic analysis of your body. Her treatment is tailored to what you need at this particular point in time. It includes more than just a remedial massage as she provides you with the tools to prevent harmful posture which can lead to misalignment of the spine and this in turn is the cause of many health problems. In line with Uschi’s philosophy about empowering her clients to take charge of their own health, she uses a range of self-help techniques and exercises for you to take home and use regularly. As well as using Dorn Spinal Therapy to engage in these self-help strategies, Uschi has also undertaken extensive training in L&B Pain Therapy. This modality uses osteopressure points to reduce pain and tension, and Uschi uses these techniques in session, as well as providing exercises for you to practice at home.

THE REAL REASON WHY MOVEMENT IS SO IMPORTANT

Have you ever wondered why exercise is important?
Okay, it burns calories and keeps the muffin top away, it’s fun to go on a bike ride with your mates and of course life saving is very important.

But beside all these effects, I’d like to let you in on a little secret today.

The reason why movement is so important lies in the fascinating world of fascia. It would be hard to not have heard something about this mysterious part of the body since everybody seems to be talking about it. Nearly as much as about toilet paper at the moment.

Fascia is the stuff that covers all your muscles and bones and even enwraps your nerves. Besides acting like a shock absorber, preventing damage to your body, fascia creates stability in your body. Something has to keep these bones of yours in place!

So to make sure this phenomenal organ can do its important job it needs to be nourished or one could say needs to be well “oiled” or rather “watered”. Another reason to keep this H2O coming.
On fascia’s long job description is the task of supplying cells with nutrients and while they’re at it, getting rid of any waste that lures in between the cells as well.

Beside enough fluids, movement, stretches mainly, are the most important thing to keep this hard worker happy. I always picture fascia as the underpaid employee that is the heart and soul of the company called body.

Not enough movement, stress and a bad diet can lead to fascia that is “glued” together. Which in turn can lead to failure in fulfilling the long list of responsibilities. Unfortunately nobody else can be hired to take care of them though!

Once the fascia is glued together no fluid can move through it or can be absorbed by it. And here’s the real reason why movement is so important. You have to keep the fascia happy.
Come on it’s not asking for much!

Let’s make sure to treat fascia kindly, to drink enough water and to keep the body moving.

Relationship advice from your body therapist

You and your loyal partner, your body have a long lasting relationship.
And like in every other relationship there are times when things aren’t running smoothly. Tensions can be high and in these situations we tend not to listen to the other party.

Which is not a good idea as every couple’s therapist will be able to tell you!

Listening is the most important thing in every relationship. Therefore I’d like to encourage you to listen to your body. When you feel pain your body tells you that something is wrong. And your body never lies.

Since I’m not a psychotherapist I can be that blunt: Your body is always right!

Sometimes your body needs rest and most of the times stretches.

Don’t ignore your pain. Go and see a specialist.

I’m happy to help the two of you to get back on good terms!

There’s nothing more rewarding for me than seeing people walking away from my treatment feeling better.
I love to find the reasons behind your pain and a remedy for it.

The human body is such a fascinating thing! And its capacity to heal doesn’t stop to surprise me.

When you are on my massage table, in a way I start a conversation with your body. This guides me through the diagnosis and tells me exactly what you need.

Remedial massage, CarnioSacral Therapy (Upledger), Myofascial Meridians with Thomas W. Myers (Anatomy Trains) and Dorn Spinal Therapy are a few of the therapies I’ve studied.

I use elements of these techniques to tailor my treatment to your specific needs and will send you home with tools to prevent for example harmful posture and a kit of first aid stretches!

Harmful posture is very common and is the cause of many health problems.

Besides who doesn’t like the posture of trained dancers. They look so graceful. And the best thing about it? You don’t have to spend a whole life at the barre to get there, I can share some tricks with you!

Now that the holidays are over and you're back at work doing the same thing over and over again the old aches and pains are lurking in the shadows!
If you're spending long hours at your desk here are a few helpful tipps to break up prolonged sitting. Research shows that sitting longer than 20 minutes at a time will for example stiffen your buttocks:

- Getting up regularly is important. Of course it's easy to get carried away with what you're doing!
A simple rule could be to get up for every sip of water.

- Don't fill up your 2.5 l bottle, fill up a glass and refill as needed from the tap.

- Don't ask your colleague who's on the way to the xerox machine to get your printouts, get them yourself.

- On the way to the bathroom move your arms that will relief tension in your neck and shoulders.
