Today we welcomed Imogen (4 from left) and Phoebe (4 from right) to our team 🥳 It is such a bonus for the service to have he Griffith Counselling cohort performing their practicum with us again !! They are joining ACAP students from L-R Krishna, Saha and Laura. And from the right, ACAP student Chanelle, Griffith Psyche student Halle, and University of Canberra student Harry !!!! Where is Jess ??? Anyway, welcome Imogen and Phoebe, we look forward to sharing this journey with you 🙏🌞🚶🌳

It's been 6 years of dedication and commitment by a number of special individuals to arrive at this partnership with Gold Coast Primary Health Network (GCPHN), beginning January this year, 2026. More recently, we say thankyou for the efforts of Adam McMurray and James Bailey from GCPHN for taking the time to understand the Walk and Talk model and find a place for the service to sit under this federal government umbrella🙏 To Sam Hughes from City of Gold Coast who consistently put the service in front of eyes at all levels of government, and to the management committee who continue to devote their time and energy, Co-developer Dr Deb Bath, and Treasurer Wendy Dempsey 🙏🚶🌞🌳

This morning I had an opportunity to Walk and Talk with Elisa (Counselling Program Director) and Ally (WIL Placements Officer) from Griffith University's School of Applied Psychology 🙏🌳🌞🚶We look forward to welcoming students from Griffith's Bachelor of Counselling Program to undertake their Practicums in the very near future. This partnership strengthens Walk and Talk for Wellness' ability to provide greater/wider community mental health support whilst continuing to share in nurturing and further developing mental health professionals of the future 🙏 Together we achieve more !!!

Walk and Talk welcomes Harry !! "Hello, my name is Harry. I am a trainee counsellor completing my Graduate Diploma of Counselling at the University of Canberra.

I am excited to be a part of the team at Walk and Talk for Wellness. I have a strong interest in supporting people’s wellbeing through evidence-based talk therapies and value creating a safe, respectful, and supportive environment where people feel genuinely heard and understood. I believe in the powerful connection between mind and body, and I am particularly interested in how movement, time in nature, and healthy lifestyle choices can complement therapeutic conversations and self exploration.

Outside of my professional interests, I enjoy sports, engaging in creative outlets such as painting and music, and spending time in nature to recharge and reflect."

Harry is available for appointments every Thursday from 8am, bookings are essential .com 🚶🌞🌳

Walk and Talk welcomes Jessica ""Hi, I’m Jessica, a fourth-year psychology student at Griffith University. I am passionate about connecting with others and enjoy drawing on my background in performing arts to build rapport and foster positive relationships in an active environment. With aspirations to become a sport or clinical psychologist, I am particularly interested in approaches that support both mental and physical well-being. Walk and talk therapy stood out to me for its accepting, gentle approach and its ability to combine movement, nature and human connection within a supportive, therapeutic space. Throughout this journey, I aim to help create an environment where people feel comfortable, heard and supported without judgement. I understand how busy life can become, which is why I value creating awareness around the importance of prioritising mental health. I am interested in incorporating mindfulness, active listening and a person-centred approach to honour each individual’s unique experience. I can’t wait to create collaborative goals and take small steps toward positive change, self-awareness and long-term comfort."

What happens in silence ? Do your thoughts vanish ? Is the present moment or challenge suddenly gone ? I wonder if in certain moments of silence, processing occurs, order created, or maybe an idea for progress sprouts ? In nature this can be enhanced further ! Numerous empirical studies report improvements in concentration, directed attention (Berman, Jonides, & Kaplan, 2008; Berto, 2005; Hartig, Evans, Jamner, Davis, & Gärling, 2003; Van den Berg et al., 2003), and emotional functioning after contact with nature. Imagine how this could be enhanced again by walking side by side with a trained listener 🚶🌳🌞 Every Thursday appointments are available from 8am to 10am. Walk one on one for approx an hour with a student of Psychology or Counselling, it's only $5 and bookings are essential 🙏

Have you ever wondered what it is about water that attracts us. Often our favourite holiday destinations, places that we go to for rest are beside water. Research suggests that being near water can lower stress and anxiety, interventions near water are often more effective. From an evolutionary perspective we are hardwired to know that water sustains life. At Benowa Botanic Gardens we walk and talk beside lakes, small waterfalls, and even a small beach 🌞🚶🌳 sessions every Thursday, bookings are essential

Walk and Talk welcomes Halle "Hi! My name is Halle Wiblen and I am currently in my third year, studying a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) at Griffith University. I am passionate about making support feel approachable and accessible, especially at a time when many people feel increasingly isolated. I’ve always loved being active whether that is playing netball, going to the beach, or walking with my friends and family. I believe being outdoors and moving our bodies can make conversations feel easier, more natural, and less
overwhelming. My goal is to create a relaxed, welcoming space where you can simply be yourself. We can walk in comfortable silence, chat about your week, or gently explore anything on your mind. There is no pressure to share more than you want to, and we can take things at your pace with whatever feels right for you on the day. I look forward to walking alongside you soon!" Halle is available for bookings at 8, 9, and 10am every Thursday at our Benowa Gardens service.

My approach is warm, person-centred, and culturally sensitive, honouring each individual's unique story, strengths and goals. I draw from mindfulness, strengths based frameworks, and evidence based strategies.
