Welcome Karisha, from the Griffith University Counselling cohort πŸŽ‰ Karisha will be available for appointments every Thursday at 8am, 9am, or 10am ! Bookings are essential, and made online .com 🌳🌞🚢"Hi, I’m Karisha Sehmbey, a third-year Bachelor of Counselling student and counselling intern. I’m passionate about supporting people through stress, life transitions, and emotional challenges with compassion and grounded guidance. I strongly value creating a safe, non-judgemental space where clients feel comfortable, understood, and able to express themselves openly. Building trust is at the centre of my work, and I focus on listening deeply, meeting clients where they’re at, and helping them develop practical strategies that support their wellbeing. I believe that small, consistent steps create meaningful change, and I’m committed to walking alongside clients as they build confidence and clarity.

Walk and Talk for Wellness Inc. welcomes Bec, from Griffith University's Psychology cohort. Bec is available every Thursday for appointments between 8am and 11am 🌞🌳🚢
"Hi, I’m Bec.
I’m entering my third year of a Bachelor of Psychology at Griffith University, with the goal of continuing on to postgraduate study and, one day, becoming a registered psychologist. In my previous life as a high school teacher I gained first-hand experience supporting young people through life’s challenges by building positive, respectful relationships that valued them as individuals. I strongly believe in the power of genuine human connection to promote mental health and wellbeing within our community.
I also have a great love of the outdoors; I enjoy walking, hiking with my family, and being in nature whenever I can. A few years ago, while living in Tasmania, I was lucky enough to complete a six-day hike on the Overland Track, which was both challenging and immensely rewarding. I love that Walk and Talk for Wellness combines these elements of connection, movement and nature in a way that makes it accessible and meaningful, and I’m looking forward to walking with you in the beautiful Botanic Gardens soon.

Can you think of an example that applies to your own personal experience, where consistency has been more useful than intensity ? πŸ€” Whether it's starting a mindfulness regime, exercise program, learning to play an instrument, nurturing relationships ?

Do you remember people in your life telling you not to show your emotions ? If you were upset, sad or crying, to "stop being a sook!". If you were happy or proud, "don't gloat!" Emotions are part of being human, and part of processing them is being able to express them. It can be a really tricky thing to explore if you haven't got the support around you to share them without judgement. Here at Walk and Talk for Wellness Inc. we often help people by listening to their words, identifying their emotions, exploring their presence, bringing understanding and self awareness πŸ˜‡πŸšΆπŸŒ³πŸŒž We are here to explore these emotions with you every week πŸ™ walkandtalkforwellness.com

Walk and Talk sessions are an evidence based strategy for improving how you feel and function πŸ™

"participants found the natural, calming effect of the outdoors, combined with the movement of walking, facilitated a sense of freedom to express themselves and, in doing so, maximise the benefits of the therapeutic space. These included gaining a broader perspective, heightened self-awareness and greater acceptance of oneself, others and life's challenges." (McCarthy & Prince-Llewellyn., 2024)
