82-year-old surfing legend Felipe Pomar, who once rode a tsunami in 1974 and is still charging 20-foot waves, stopped by Kirra Beach to chat with the TODAY Show and demonstrate that age is no barrier to catching a wave and adventure doesn’t retire. Felipe’s visit is an inspiring reminder that no matter your age, you can still challenge yourself and achieve incredible things.

All aboard for Scotland! Our first Armchair Travel session, hosted by our lovely (and very Scottish) Alison, was a hit! With about 25 happy travellers we embarked on a terrific journey, minus the jet lag, and enjoyed the sights and of course some Scottish delights such as Walkers shortbread, caramel wafers, a taste of Irn-Bru and a wee whiskey!

Smiles, sunshine and a trishaw ride with Cycling Without Age - Gold Coast. This beautiful volunteer-driven program provides seniors and individuals with disability the chance to enjoy the freedom and exhilaration of riding a bicycle and reconnecting with the environment and their community. One of our residents even brought her dog Honey Joy along for the ride!

Our new Chevron Island community is almost ready to open, and as we put the finishing touches in place, we’re looking for good quality books to stock our library for residents. Everything at Odyssey has been thoughtfully designed to support daily independence, encourage a vibrant lifestyle and create a sense of warmth and connection. A well-loved book can be a big part of that, offering comfort and stories for our residents to enjoy.

If you have any pre-loved books you would like to donate, we would love to give them a new home.

As an early Australia Day celebration, we hosted a special movie night for our residents, complete with popcorn, lamingtons, cocktails, and the stunning film Australia. The evening was part of our Give Back events, which are organised as a thank you to our residents and offer our community a chance to come together, relax and enjoy a shared experience, all at no cost to our residents.
