Today’s session was all about safe, pain-free movement 🙌
My client came in with a sudden onset of shoulder pain, so we focused on building confidence and mobility without flaring things up.

💪 What we did:
✨ Active-assisted range of motion
✨ Active range of motion
✨ Gentle isometrics
✨ Progressed to light weights — ONLY because every rep was pain-free and she normally trains 3–4x per week.

👀 Important:
If any pain had popped up at any stage, we would’ve reassessed and regressed the exercises immediately.
Weights aren’t always appropriate in the early phase — but for this client, they were safe, controlled, and completely pain-free ✔️

💡 Your rehab should always be tailored, adaptable, and built around what your body can tolerate on the day.

If you’ve had a sudden shoulder flare-up, early movement + the right guidance makes all the difference 🤝

How can physio help you?! And what to expect during a session:

1️⃣ History Taking
We ask about how the injury happened, your pain type, what makes it better/worse, past injuries, work demands and training load.

2️⃣ Observation
Looking at swelling, bruising, posture, movement patterns and muscle symmetry.

3️⃣ Palpation
Hands-on assessment to feel for tenderness, swelling, heat, muscle tone and joint alignment.

4️⃣ Range of Motion
Testing active + passive movement and assessing how restricted or tight things feel.

5️⃣ Strength Testing
Checking strength, endurance, muscle activation and comparing each side.

6️⃣ Special Tests
Targeted tests to assess ligaments, tendons, nerves, rotator cuff, meniscus and more.

7️⃣ Functional Testing
Seeing how your injury affects real-life tasks — squatting, lifting, reaching, walking, running or sport-specific movements.

✨ A thorough assessment means faster answers, clearer direction and better rehab outcomes.

Want your injury assessed properly? We’ve got you. 💪

We will forgive you… but here’s a quick explanation on the differences for you.

👟 Exercise Physiologist (EP)
Focuses on how the body responds to exercise.
Designs personalised exercise programs to manage chronic conditions like diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, and obesity.
Helps improve strength, fitness, and long-term health through movement-based therapy.
Great for people wanting safe, structured exercise—especially if they have ongoing health issues.

🩺 Physiotherapist (Physio)
Focuses on injury, pain, and physical dysfunction.
Uses hands-on treatment plus exercise to help you recover from injury or surgery.
Ideal for acute pain, sports injuries, or rehab after operations.

💡 Quick Guide:
Pain or recent injury? → Physiotherapist
Chronic condition or long-term health goals? → Exercise Physiologist

Both are movement experts — they just help you in different ways

No Hands Challenge. 👋🏼

In clinic today we had our Physiotherapist, Exercise Physiologist and Practice Manager try out the no hands challenge.

These kinds of tests seem a bit silly but they show us some valuable information about how someone moves. In this challenge we can look at a persons balance, joint mobility, control of a movement and the coordination of a movement.

This test in particular, isn’t for everyone but we have multiple tests that we use daily to assess our clients that aid in personalised treatment to help them reach their goals!

Come see us today to see how we can help you reach your goals. 🤸🏼‍♀️
