World Kindness Day | 13 November

Kindness is more than a nice gesture. It supports mental health, builds connection and reminds us that we are not alone.

Today is a good day to offer kindness
To others
To your community
To yourself

A small act of care can have a big impact. Whether it is a kind word, a quiet check-in or simply being present, it all matters.

Let’s choose kindness today and every day.

Boundaries don’t have to end in blowups.

Try pairing your limit with empathy:
“I can see you’re upset, and I still can’t change that decision.”

It sounds simple — but it’s powerful.
Calm + clarity = connection.

Some weeks, the hardest part isn’t doing the work — it’s finding the courage to begin again.

At Allys Johnson Psychologist (soon to be The Co-Being Space), we believe in progress over perfection.
In our clinical work and in life, trying — showing up, learning, growing — matters far more than getting it right the first time.

Failure isn’t the opposite of success. It’s how we learn to adapt, build resilience, and discover new ways forward.

✨ Whether you’re a client taking the first step toward support, or a clinician building confidence in your practice — remember: you can’t grow without trying.

🌿 WHEN STRESS BECOMES TOO MUCH: YOU DON’T HAVE TO NAVIGATE IT ALONE

Some stress is part of life — but when it starts to shape how you sleep, think, or connect, it’s time to pause and check in.

At The Co-Being Space, we help adults and professionals who are feeling burnt out, overwhelmed, or stuck in stress patterns that don’t seem to shift.

Our sessions offer a space to:
🌿 Understand what your stress is really trying to tell you
💬 Learn tools to calm your mind and body
🪴 Reconnect with what matters most — work, family, and yourself

Whether your stress looks like exhaustion, irritability, procrastination, or just feeling “off,” you don’t have to navigate it alone.

✨ Support doesn’t mean weakness — it’s the first step toward balance.

📩 We currently have limited appointments available for new clients.

🌿 Feeling burnt out doesn’t always look dramatic.
Sometimes it’s a quiet exhaustion — the kind that makes even small things feel heavy.

This is your gentle reminder to pause.
To breathe before you push.
To rest, not because you’ve earned it, but because you need it.

Every small act of care counts:
☀️ Stepping outside for sunlight
💧 Drinking a full glass of water
📱 Turning off notifications for ten minutes
💬 Saying “not today” to one more demand

Burnout recovery isn’t about doing more — it’s about doing less, with intention.
You’re allowed to slow down. You’re allowed to care for yourself too.

✨ Every little step forward counts.

💬 What’s one small act of care you can give yourself today? Comment below — your idea might be exactly what someone else needs.

Some seasons feel heavier than others.
And during Mental Health Month, you might notice the quiet pressure to “be okay.”

But here’s the truth: wellbeing isn’t a goal to reach — it’s a relationship to nurture.
It’s okay if your version of care today looks like doing less, cancelling plans, or choosing stillness over productivity.

Your nervous system needs rest just as much as it needs support.

🌿 One small thing: take 60 seconds today to breathe — really breathe — and notice how your body feels when you give it permission to slow down.

💚 You don’t need to do it all. You just need to keep showing up for yourself.

Connect and Reset

This World Mental Health Day, we’re reminding each other that meaningful connection supports mental wellbeing.

A simple chat with a friend
A moment of quiet to breathe
A walk with someone who gets it

Connection helps us feel grounded and supported. It can be the first step toward feeling more like yourself.

Reach out to someone today. Or take a moment to check in with yourself. Both count.

🌿 Therapy helps you:

🌱 Understand what’s behind your stress and anxiety — not just manage it.
🌱 Rebuild calm, clarity, and confidence in everyday life.
🌱 Feel more connected — to yourself, your family, and the world around you.

You don’t have to be in crisis to start therapy.
In fact, research from the Australian Psychological Society shows that early support leads to better long-term outcomes for anxiety, stress, and emotional well-being.

At Allys Johnson Clinical Psychologist (soon to be The Co-Being Space), therapy isn’t about being “fixed.”
It’s about co-creating change — understanding your patterns, learning practical strategies, and finding a way forward that actually fits your real life.

💛 We work alongside adults and teens across Rockhampton and Queensland to support:
• Anxiety, overwhelm, and burnout
• ADHD, Autism, and late diagnosis adjustment
• Emotional regulation and self-understanding

🧾 Medicare Mental Health Care Plans and private sessions available

As Psychology Week 2025 closes, I’ve been reflecting on this year’s theme: “Celebrating the impact of psychology in our communities.”

For me, psychology’s impact is found in the everyday moments that ripple outward into families, schools, workplaces, and beyond here in Rockhampton:
🌱 a child finding the courage to return to class,
🌱 a parent realising they are not alone in raising a neurodivergent child,
🌱 an adult learning to rest, set boundaries, and rebuild self-trust.

These moments are why I do this work. And they’re also why I’m so excited to share the next chapter with you:

💚 This page is evolving into The Co-Being Space — a values-driven practice built on connection, inclusion, and real-world change.

👉 If you’d like to be part of this transition, I’d love for you to:
✨ Like and follow this page to stay updated as we rebrand and grow.

Together, we’ll co-create change — one connection at a time. 🌿

I’m a few days late to the party… but it’s never too late to celebrate the start of Psychology Week 2025!

This year’s theme — “Celebrating the impact of psychology in our communities” — is close to my heart. Every day, I see how psychology makes a difference:
🌱 helping children feel safe and understood at school,
🌱 supporting parents through the ups and downs of family life,
🌱 walking alongside adults navigating stress, burnout, or big life transitions.

Psychology isn’t just about treatment. It’s about connection, clarity, and creating spaces where people feel safe to be themselves.

I may be a little late posting, but I’ll be sharing reflections over the next few days as we wrap up the week together. 💚

After a meltdown, your child doesn’t need a lecture. They need repair and recovery.

Meltdowns are not a choice. For many neurodivergent children, they happen when the nervous system is overwhelmed and out of resources. In that moment, learning or reasoning won’t work — but connection will.

When calm returns, that’s your window. Gently naming the feeling, offering comfort, and being present in the aftermath helps your child feel safe and understood.

It’s not about getting it perfect. It’s about building safety and trust, one moment of repair at a time.

If meltdowns feel overwhelming at home, you don’t have to navigate it alone. Our practice supports families in building strategies that work for neurodivergent children.

Self-care isn’t always about bubble baths or long meditations. Sometimes, it’s just doing the next gentle thing your nervous system can handle.

On tough days, try one small, sensory-friendly step. You don’t have to “feel better”, just feel safe enough.
