I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone in our community who sent through birthday wishes today — the messages, calls and kind words honestly meant a lot.

It’s been a slightly interesting birthday in our house… let’s just say Gastro decided it wanted an invite too 🤦‍♂️ Not exactly the party guest I had in mind.

Despite that, I was very spoiled by my beautiful family and reminded how blessed I am — not just at home, but in this incredible community. The kindness, warmth and generosity you all show (not just to me, but to everyone) is something really special.

Feeling very grateful today. Thank you all for making an otherwise “gastro-glamorous” birthday one to remember 😅

D and suburbs from Mount Lofty — absolutely beautiful.

The best part is getting to do what these guys choose to do on their Tuesdays. Every other Tuesday we swap it out for horse riding with Hannah, so there’s always something different on the cards.

Quick heads-up: this Friday is my birthday 🎂 (not saying how old I’m turning 😅) and I’ve been strongly advised by my wife Maddie that I’m not allowed to work — so no Friday night socials this week.

Everything else is running as normal: indoor cricket and all regular sessions, including any you already have booked in with me.

Love what we get to do.

🏏 Indoor Cricket is back this Sunday!

Just a heads up — Friday Night Socials is cancelled next week, and the week after we’re switching it to Saturday night so we can all enjoy watching the State of Origin together 🏉🔥

We’re really looking forward to seeing everyone at Indoor Cricket this Sunday. This week we’re switching things up and playing kick cricket instead — things have been getting a little… creative lately 😄 (less cricket, more running amok).

Let’s come along, have some laughs, enjoy each other’s company, and play a good game together.

🏹 Archery at My Mates Place 🏹

I probably don’t brag about this enough, but we run an extremely active, fun, and seriously impressive field archery program at My Mates Place.

Our sessions are led by Joel, a national-level coach, who gets out regularly with his team on Saturdays, plus smaller and more individualised sessions during the week as needed. No standing around pretending you meant to miss the target here 😉

At the moment we’ve got a strong group of archers — David, Chris, Cam, Tyler and Matthew — all of whom have competed at state level, with their sights firmly set on a national competition in Tasmania this year 🎯

If this sounds like something you’d like to be part of — getting outdoors, flinging some sticks, enjoying great company, and being part of a supportive team environment — we’d love to hear from you.

Another cracking Friday night with our Friday Night Socials crew 😎

The participants unanimously decided (after extensive discussion 😉) that Glenelg was the place to be — sunshine, sights, sea breeze and of course a bit of jetty jumping for those feeling brave!

We topped it off with a spin on the Ferris wheel 🎡, great food, even better company and plenty of laughs along the way.

Safe to say fun was had by all and we’re absolutely making the most of this hot spell here at My Mates Place ☀️🔥

Happy Australia Day everyone 🇦🇺

I know today can bring mixed emotions for many, and it’s important to acknowledge that our country’s history hasn’t been perfect. There have been mistakes along the way, and that truth matters.

For me though, today is also about holding my head high and feeling proud to be Australian. Proud of the country we live in, the opportunities we have, and the people who came before us — including those who went to war and laid down their lives, and the generations before us who shaped the lives we’re able to live today.

I’m grateful for this land, the freedom it offers, and the sense of community that comes with it. I think it’s okay — and important — to have a day to celebrate that.

So I hope you’re all able to enjoy a beer, a barbecue, some good banter, and time with family or the people you love.

Had an absolute cracker of a time at Friday night socials with the guys 🙌
One of those perfectly unplanned nights — wandering down the Glenelg main street, grabbing whatever took our fancy to eat, then meeting up with Ben for a cheeky jetty jump.

We wrapped things up with the world’s hottest gummy bear challenge 🌶️🔥 — which was equal parts hilarious and painful for those who took part (yes… myself included).

Thanks to everyone who came along. Hope you all had a blast — not just my poor taste buds 😅

A great respite session with Trey 😊

He’s probably my youngest participant, and to start this session we included his brothers. This helped strengthen their bond and gave them a better understanding of where Trey goes and what he gets up to during respite.

The following day, we headed to Minto Zoo, where Trey thoroughly enjoyed learning, exploring, and making the most of everything the zoo has to offer — especially discovering more about the animals.

A fantastic couple of days filled with connection, learning, and a bit of fun along the way.

Also, thank you to Mia for cutting it up and having a go at things. Next time, I’ll make sure to bring my new microphone to cut out the wind, but overall, I’m really happy with how it turned out.
