Horse riding today with Hayden and Ben!
Ben’s already an experienced rider with Hanna at Equine Therapy (not just a writer this time 😉). It was Hayden’s very first time in the saddle, and Alyssa did a great job showing him the ropes — or should I say, the reins!

I’ve done lots of different types of therapy with participants, but this one really takes the horseshoe for being the most calming, relaxing, and beneficial I’ve seen.

Ben’s been on fire lately — both in life and in the kitchen! 🔥🍳
We’ve been working our way up from the basics, but today he took full charge — went shopping for all the ingredients, picked his own flavours, and whipped up a delicious batch of stuffed capsicums with barely any help from me! 👨‍🍳👏

He’s come such a long way, not just with life skills but with his choices too. The best part? He wrapped up the leftover one to take to his dear aunty who’s been out all day — thoughtful and talented! 💚🌶️

Unfortunately, our South Australian boys went down to Tasmania in the Inclusive Grand Final for the third year in a row.
Condolences to all our lads — you gave it everything and should be proud of the effort it took to get there once again.
Congratulations to Tasmania on their well-deserved three-peat! 👏

Congratulations to our South Australian Inclusive Squad for making it into the National Championship Grand Final tomorrow against Tasmania! 🎉

An amazing achievement — the game kicks off at 10am on Kayo if anyone wants to tune in and cheer them on.

From what I’ve heard, Brad and the team have had a fantastic trip so far, kicking goals and even picking up some on-ground awards. Well done to everyone — congratulations and good luck for tomorrow! 💪🏏

Hey everyone!
Just a heads-up — I’ll be taking some well-deserved holidays from December 10 through to January 10. Four glorious weeks off! 🏖️

If you’ve got one-on-one or group sessions with me during that time, they’ll be on pause. I’ll try to sort someone to help out with indoor cricket, but we’ll see how that goes 😅.

Not too sure what Joel and Mia are planning yet, but I imagine they’ll be taking a bit of Christmas time off too.

This is just an early heads-up — I’ll make a more official post and chat with everyone individually over the next couple of weeks to make sure no one’s left without support.

🎉 Big news from My Mates Place! 🎉

We’re super proud to announce that two of our participants, Brad Kinross and Finlay McIntyre, have been selected to play in the National Inclusive Football Competition next week! 🏆⚽️

They’ll be flying out this Sunday, and these photos are from last night’s Guernsey presentation — what a moment!

Well done, boys! 👏
You’ve both worked so hard and absolutely deserve this opportunity. We’re all incredibly proud of you here at My Mates Place! 💙💛

Jackson and Hawks have been having respite together for about four or five months now, and they’ve become absolute legends of mates! 🙌 They get along brilliantly and always have a great time.

Shared respite like this is awesome — it helps build real friendships, creates a sense of community, and even saves a few NDIS dollars 💰 (these two definitely get twice the fun for half the price!).

This weekend will be their last one together for a while, as Jackson moves into his own SIL accommodation on Monday 🎉 Big milestone!

So, Hawks is now on the lookout for a new mate to share these fun weekends with. If you know someone who’d be keen, drop a comment below or send us a message 👇

At My Mates Place, we help fill the gaps between coordinators and regular mentors. We support our participants by:
• Booking and attending doctor appointments
• Organising health plans
• Helping with clearances if needed
• Attending meetings with coordinators to make sure the right supports are in place

Lately, we’ve even been to meetings at Housing SA and Centrelink to support our participants.

If your current supports aren’t able to cover these needs, My Mates Place can step in and fill the gaps.
