There’s something pretty special about watching our supported employees take the wheel, literally.
One of the biggest confidence boosters in our gardening crews is learning to use the front-deck ride-on mower. It’s not just a machine; it’s a skill-builder. And our Disability Support Workers play a huge role in making that happen.
They take the time to break things down step by step: safety checks, controls, maneuvering, understanding the terrain, and how to deliver that clean, professional cut our clients love. They don’t rush the process. They coach, demonstrate, guide from the side, and celebrate the small wins along the way.
You can see the shift when our supported employees realise, “Hey, I can do this.” Their competency grows, their confidence kicks in, and suddenly they’re producing incredible results out on site. Results our clients notice immediately.
That’s what makes this work meaningful. It’s not just mowing lawns. It’s building capability, pride, and a genuine pathway to independence.
