Stronger for Life Membership, developed predominantly for people over 40, focuses on improving strength, movement and balance in the spine and major joints such as the knee, hip and shoulder.
Every new member undergoes a thorough assessment with a Physiotherapist before starting an exercise therapy program. The assessment allows your therapist to design a program that focuses on improving your strength and mobility where it’s most needed.
The getback™ Exercise Therapy devices excel in safely strengthening and activating targeted muscle groups without causing stress on joints or areas of weakness.
Stronger for Life programs start gradually with appropriate loading based on your assessment results. Every session is supervised by a Physiotherapist or Exercise Physiologist, with a maximum of four patients in a group appointment.
All programs are designed with a minimum of two exercise therapy sessions per week.

Aussie tennis legend and Wimbledon Champion Pat Cash dropped in to the new getback South Melbourne clinic last week.
Pat spearheaded Australia’s Davis Cup wins in 1983 and 1986 during a golden era for Australian tennis.
getback Co-Founder and Clinical Director Geoffrey Mackay was the Davis Cup team’s physiotherapist throughout the period. He describes Pat as a ‘fierce competitor’ who gave his all every time he walked onto the court.
Unfortunately, Pat was plagued by knee and back injuries throughout his career and now follows a strict exercise regime to keep himself fit and strong.
Pat was interested in finding out more about the getback program and tried out several spine and knee exercise therapy devices, before completing a full assessment.
The assessment precisely measured the strength, range of motion of supporting muscles around Pat’s spine and major joints. A getback assessment provides a guide to the specific muscles that need strengthening and mobility work to relieve stress on the joints.

In 2024, Bastiaan was found unconscious at the bottom of a slope after a skiing accident.
Bastiaan had suffered multiple facial fractures and a painful shoulder injury.
He was fortunate in one significant way however – having access to the exercise rehabilitation technology he had spent years introducing to allied health clinics around the world.

The getback Cervical Rotation Device can look daunting, but it’s the safest and most effective way to strengthen and improve the range of your neck.
The device is so effective, it has been utilised for an RAAF program by the Air Combat Group.
Called Fighter Fit, the program focuses on conditioning, maintenance, and if necessary, rehabilitation. It is not uncommon for RAAF fast-jet aircrew to sustain neck injuries, as the weight of helmets and displaced centre of gravity places considerable strain on a pilot’s neck and upper back.
Thanks to the Move for Life - getback Mentone team for producing this video explaining how the Cervical Rotation device functions.

Venus Martin has a tendency to get carried away when she’s ‘on a mission’.
But the former flight attendant’s usual brightness was dimmed when she developed severe back pain after hosting a family Christmas last year.
‘I was so focused on “my mission” to clean and put everything away and I was standing the whole time.’
After the party, she went to bed and ‘couldn’t move.’
‘I couldn’t turn my body,’ she recalls. ‘I thought maybe after waking up, I’d be okay.’
‘But I had difficulty getting up in the morning, which is not normal for me. I had to take it very slowly because my back was really painful.’
After several days of painkillers and massage, the pain was still persistent.
‘Before I thought, when you overdid something, you’ll be okay after a few days. But not this time.’

getback™ grew out of a physiotherapy clinic in Middle Park, Melbourne, where career physiotherapist, Geoffrey Mackay and sports scientist, John Carlson, were frustrated with the commonality and recurrence of neck and back pain complaints and the lack of a truly effective treatment.
By bringing together the logics of sports science and a deep understanding of the pathological progression of neck and back injuries from 60 years' combined clinical practice as well as a partnership with a world-leading therapeutic technology, David, they 'cracked the code', developing a therapy that delivers lasting results that far outperforms all other current treatments.
Now, Geoffrey and John are both passionate about sharing the benefits of their life's work to improve the health and quality of life of many who live with this often-debilitating condition everyday.
