Healing Paws Program – Kerrin’s Story, One Year On
A year after we donated Crumpet to Kerrin’s family as part of our developing Healing Paws Program, she recently shared a moment that perfectly captures why this initiative matters.
On a day she was feeling unwell, Crumpet did something new. “He nudged me toward a chair a few minutes before the dizziness hit,” she explained. As her symptoms worsened, he steadied her by placing his paws on her legs, “almost holding me in place,” and stayed right beside her until she felt safe again.
When she moved to the couch, Crumpet immediately followed, snuggling in close. “He just wouldn’t leave me,” Kerrin said.
Despite being “the world’s biggest boofhead,” Crumpet has shown remarkable natural intuition and care—long before any formal assistance training.
Stories like this reflect exactly why we donate one Australian Labradoodle from every litter to a family in need. Crumpet is living proof of the healing power these dogs can bring.
