I’m Susan Rose, a hypnotherapist dedicated to supporting women who are navigating the deep, overwhelming grief of losing a loved one. My journey with grief began after the passing of my father, an experience that showed me how consuming sadness, guilt, and emotional overwhelm can feel—and how challenging it is to move forward without feeling like you’re betraying the person you love. Through this

personal journey, I discovered the profound healing potential of introspective hypnotherapy, which gently releases guilt, restores emotional balance, and helps the nervous system unwind. This work became my calling: to guide other women through grief with compassion, nurturing support, and tools that allow them to honor their loved ones while reclaiming joy, presence, and confidence in life. This is called subconscious surveillance. It means your body is still checking that imaginary door, even though you already locked it.

Your brain is designed to keep you safe. Until it knows the threat is resolved, it stays alert.

Try this:

Picture their face for just a moment.
Notice what shows up in your body.
Now breathe in for 4 seconds.
Out for 8. Twice.
Then say inwardly, “I release the need to keep checking on you.”

This tells your system: it’s safe to power down.

Real boundaries aren’t just on the outside. This is how you seal them from within.

Sometimes we think we’ve let go, but our body tells a different story.

You’ve moved on in your mind, but your nervous system still flinches at a familiar tone or glance.

If you’ve forgiven someone, but your chest tightens when their name comes up, you’re not doing it wrong. It just means your body hasn’t caught up yet.

That reaction isn’t weakness. It’s a sign your body still thinks it needs to protect you.

This is where many get stuck. We forgive with our thoughts, but the emotion stays in the body.

Your system is still holding a “threat file”—a stored reaction loop deep in the brain, where survival patterns live. This loop doesn’t understand that the danger has passed.

Here’s how to start shifting it:

1. Go to the root, not just the latest trigger.
Think back to the first time you felt this kind of hurt. Who was there? What happened? Notice what you feel in your body.

2. Breathe with intention.
Inhale for 4 counts. On your slow exhale, say softly, “I release the residue, not the lesson.” Repeat until your body starts to soften.

3. Let your body finish what it started.
In a deep trance state which is used in Introspective Hypnosis, we reach the place where these emotional loops live. From there, we gently unwind them—for good.

Forgiveness feels complete when your body finally feels calm.
