Mental Health Reminder 🧠

Sometimes, the pressure to have everything planned or figured out can feel overwhelming, and so can focusing on everything at once (the whole staircase!).

Focusing on the step in front of you can help bring things back to a more manageable place, and taking things one step at a time is enough. 💚

If you are finding things difficult, speaking with your GP can be a helpful first step in exploring the support available to you.

DVA Update 🇦🇺

For veterans who have not previously received TMS, treatment may first be accessed under the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS), which typically includes an initial course of up to 35 sessions, followed by up to 15 maintenance sessions.

Previously, once these sessions were completed, any additional treatment required a separate DVA approval process to request for funding …

From 1 January 2026, DVA has introduced a new scheme that allows eligible patients to continue accessing TMS for depression after their MBS sessions, without needing to immediately go through the approval pathway!

Under this new scheme, eligible patients may access up to 100 sessions per calendar year and up to 300 sessions across their lifetime.

For patients who are not eligible under the MBS criteria, or who have reached these limits, the DVA approval process remains available. ⭐️

If you’d like to learn more about TMS and DVA access, speak with your GP or contact our team to discuss your options!

TMS Training Course…The Practical Component 🧠✨

It’s always exciting for us when healthcare professionals come to our training courses. It means we can share our passion, educate others, and help contribute to the future of evidence-based mental health care across WA!

Run in collaboration with The University of Western Australia and The Perron Institute, this training supports clinicians and researchers in building the skills and confidence needed to bring TMS into their own clinical practice.

As part of our RANZCP-accredited course, participants explored the real-world application of rTMS, from neuronavigation and coil positioning, to treatment procedures and patient screening. 🧠

If you are a health professional keen to explore the benefits of TMS Therapy, keep an eye out for our next training course, or call our team on (08) 6166 3733.

✨ Inside TMS Therapy ✨

Lets continue breaking down some common questions about TMS Therapy...

This week’s clip explores the question ‘Is TMS Medicare Approved?’. The breakdown is from our very own Dr Kyle Hoath (TMS Specialist at Modalis) on the Medical Forum Magazine podcast, hosted by Dr. Joe Kosterich. 🧠

Aimed at Australian medical practitioners, this podcast series shines a light on the struggles many people with depression encounter in getting effective treatment, and shows where TMS might make a real difference.

If you’ve been curious about the financial side of TMS, this clip is a must-watch!

World Health Day 🌎🧠

Today is World Health Day, and this year’s theme, “Together for Health. Stand with Science,” highlights the importance of scientific research in advancing mental health treatment. 🧠

At Modalis, we are proud to contribute to the advancement of the TMS field through research collaborations with The University of Western Australia and perroninstitute for Neurological and Translational Science.

Swipe through the carousel to see how our clinics currently support several WA-based research studies. ✨

Easter Monday Reminder 🐣🌸

Holidays like Easter are often associated with connection and celebration, which is a beautiful thing! But, holidays can also bring pressure, expectations, or difficult emotions for some people.

The feeling that we “should” be experiencing the holidays in a certain way can sometimes make this time of year feel overwhelming, and if this weekend has felt challenging for you, it’s important to remember that prioritising your mental wellbeing and setting boundaries is okay.

We hope you’re spending the Easter long weekend in a way that feels right for you. 🤍

And remember, if you are finding things difficult, speaking with your GP can be a helpful first step in exploring the support that may be available to you.

Wishing our incredible patients, colleagues, and community a peaceful and happy Easter Sunday 🧠🐣🌸
