Prenatal Pilates🐣
Hello Smile Pilates members 🙌🏻
Today, we’d like to talk about why strengthening the core and glute muscles is so important in prenatal Pilates 🤍
As pregnancy progresses, hormonal changes, weight gain, and postural shifts place increasing stress on the lower back and pelvis. As the belly grows forward, many expecting mothers experience lower back pain, pelvic discomfort, or instability 🥲
✔️ The core muscles help support the growing belly from the inside.
Through Pilates breathing and gentle, controlled core exercises, we can improve abdominal support, reduce strain on the lower back, and promote safer, more comfortable movement during daily activities.
✔️ The glute muscles play a key role in stabilizing the pelvis.
When the glutes become weak during pregnancy, the lower back and pelvic joints often compensate, leading to increased discomfort. Strengthening the glutes helps maintain pelvic alignment, improves posture, and makes everyday movements such as walking, standing, and turning over much easier.
✔️ Balanced activation of the core, glutes, and pelvic floor muscles also supports birth preparation and postpartum recovery, while helping to reduce the risk of issues such as pelvic pain and urinary leakage.
✔️ In addition, moderate and appropriate exercise during pregnancy helps reduce stress, supports emotional well-being, and promotes healthy oxygen circulation for the baby—positively contributing to fetal brain development 🤍
At Smile Pilates, we focus on safe, trimester-appropriate training to help you strengthen your body, feel supported, and enjoy a healthy, confident pregnancy 🙌🏻💓
