What a beautiful day to be enjoying the sights in Melbourne!☀️🌊

As part of his Independent Living Supports, Mark and his support worker, Michelle, made the most of the beautiful weather with a fun day out!

They started with a stroll through Luna Park 🎡, taking in the sights and sounds. To make the most of the spectacular day they headed to St Kilda Beach and went for a walk along the pier. 🌊

To finish off the day, they stopped for a homemade ice cream – a tasty treat to end the day!🍦

It was great to see Mark exploring his community, enjoying new experiences, and making the most of a sunny day. 💛

🌿🦋Community Access Experience – Zoo Visit 🐘🐒

Dianne and her support worker, Sheree, recently used their community access time to visit the Royal Melbourne Zoo. As it had been many years since Dianne’s last visit, she was incredibly excited to return. Diane thoroughly enjoyed seeing all of the animals and especially loved exploring the butterfly house.🦋

It was a wonderful and memorable outing for her, supporting her interests and wellbeing. 😊

🌱 Brew Crew Café Joins Catering for Good!🌟

Exciting news! Brew Crew Café in Bairnsdale has joined the Catering for Good directory, making it easier for local workplaces to enjoy healthy, nutritious catering while supporting meaningful employment opportunities.

As a social enterprise, Brew Crew Café currently employs 16 supported employees, giving them hands-on training in all aspects of café and catering operations. Partnering with Catering for Good helps the café expand its menu, reach more local businesses, and continue growing as a go-to for fresh, healthy workplace catering. Katrina Conn, Operations Supervisor, says: "It’s an easy way to guarantee quality, healthy food—perfect for workplaces wanting to do the right thing."

How do you turn your home movie night into a special occasion?

With the support of our overnight Independent Living team, Emma headed out to her favourite local Italian spot for a delicious dinner 🍝✨

For the first time, she tried Italian rice balls and a fresh salad at— and her review? “I really enjoyed them!” 😄

After a lovely evening out, Emma settled back in at home, made some popcorn in the microwave, and relaxed on the couch watching Matilda on TV 🍿📺

A perfect mix of social fun and cosy comfort — a wonderfully relaxing night out… and in! 💛

Vicki, Ben, Warren and Lyndon from Distinctive Options Noweyung enjoyed another fun-filled day out, truly living the dream, in beautiful East Gippsland!

Support for day trips like this is provided through each individual’s NDIS funding, recognising the importance of social connection and meaningful community participation.

The day included a visit to the historic Maffra Sugar Beet Museum and the car museum at Gippsland Vehicle Collection Inc., followed by lunch at the park.

After recharging, the group headed to The Berry Dairy for delicious ice cream and some quality time with the most adorable baby goats — the perfect way to end the day 🐐🍦

The Ladies Only Group in Sunbury got creative on Wednesday with a fun and colourful activity! 🎨✨

Everyone designed their very own t-shirts, showcasing their unique styles and personalities.

Caitlin added the word KISS alongside a Disney princess for a bold and playful look!

Art and animals do go together!

Those who came to our Open Studio Night last year might remember the animal vases… because they absolutely flew off the shelves!

So this time, the Sunbury Connect Pottery & Art crew decided it was only fair they made a few to keep for themselves. And what a collection it’s turned into!

Dogs, giraffes, flowers, chickens—you name it, this bunch of creative legends
brought it to life in clay. Safe to say, their shelves are looking a lot more interesting these days.

Eddie is making a difference at the Men's shed.

Eddie is supported by Heiner from Distinctive Options Bendigo’s Independent Living Supports team to get involved in meaningful community activities.

One of Eddie’s favourite activities is attending the Huntly Men’s Shed, where locals come together to work on individual and group projects using a range of hand and power tools.

Eddie has been busy making bird feeders — a much-needed resource as habitat loss continues to impact our native wildlife.

Well done, Eddie! 👏 Thank you for giving back to the community and supporting our local wildlife 🐦💚

Summer sailing! ⛵️

Adam and his support worker Tuula from Indepedent Living Supports at Distinctive Options enjoyed a day's sailing at Albert Park Lake with Sailability.

Sailability is a program offered at select sailing clubs, designed to make sailing accessible to people of all abilities. With extra support, a dedicated volunteer network, and specialised equipment, Sailability opens the water to everyone!

Tuula said: "We had a beautiful day out at SailAbility! We started the day with takeaway coffees and plenty of smiles before heading down to the lake"

With life jackets on and Adam hoisted safely into the boat, we set off onto the water. The conditions were perfect and Adam sailed like a pro, taking it all in and enjoying every moment.

After sailing, Adam enjoyed a coffee and a pie before we headed back, relaxed and happy after such a great day."

A huge thank you to the incredible volunteers at Sailability for making this experience possible!

Apples for Amber!

With 1:1 support, Amber chose to explore new places to add variety to her independent living supports after completing her daily living skills at home.

Having the right supports in place gives Amber valuable respite, time to discover new experiences, and supports her overall wellbeing.

Recently, Amber visited a newly opened attraction in Kyneton and highly recommends it! She enjoyed a visit to Campaspe Mill Distillery, where she treated herself to a delicious cheese platter and local Harcourt sparkling apple juice! 🧀🍎✨.
