Barbie just made history with its first-ever autistic doll 💙

Created in partnership with the Autistic Self Advocacy Network, the new Fashionistas Barbie includes thoughtful details like:
—▸ A fidget spinner
—▸ an AAC ablet for communication
—▸ Noise-cancelling headphones
—▸ Bendable elbows and wrists for stimming
—▸ Clothing designed to reduce sensory discomfort

Even her gaze is slightly averted, reflecting how some autistic people avoid direct eye contact.

Mattel says the doll was developed over 18 months with autistic advocates to ensure authentic representation. It joins Barbie’s growing lineup of dolls representing disabilities and health conditions — a move advocates say helps autistic kids (and adults) feel seen. 🥹

Fun fact - Magnolia Ride Safe already has a safety management system. I feel very confident in saying that there would not be many who currently service the disability industry who can say the same. 💜🖤💚

From 20 February 2026, new safety duties apply to anyone providing community or courtesy transport, even if you’re exempt from holding Operator Accreditation.

This includes:
🏨 Hotel transfers
👶Childcare pick/up drop off services
🎯 RSL and sporting club vans
🚌 Other courtesy shuttles
👩‍⚕️ NDIS services

Under the new safety management framework, you’ll need documented Safety Management Plans detailing your actions to deliver safe services, including to:
✅ Maintain vehicles
✅ Monitor drivers
✅ Train staff
✅ Manage risks

📋 You have 6 months to develop and implement your Safety Management Plan.

The new laws ensure public passenger services consistently meet people’s expectations regarding safety.

After seeing his autistic son Zachary Duncan being bullied online, a father named Stuart Duncan decided to take action instead of accepting it.

Stuart created a private Minecraft server called Autcraft, built specifically to be a safe and welcoming space for autistic children. What began as a way to protect his own child has grown into a community of more than 17,000 autistic kids from around the world.

On Autcraft, players can build, explore, and connect without fear of bullying. The server is carefully moderated, kindness is the rule, and everyone is treated with respect and understanding.

For many children, Autcraft is the first online place where they feel safe, accepted, and truly included.
