Did you know February is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month?

Here is some information from the Ovarian Cancer Australia Website

Each year in Australia around 1,900 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer. In most cases the cancer will be diagnosed at an advanced stage, where it is very difficult to treat.

That is why we're committed to ensuring that every Australian knows more about ovarian cancer and its early symptoms.

We need progress. Let's shine a light on ovarian cancer this Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.

Giving Day, February 18th.
Our annual Giving Day will take place on Wednesday the 18th of February.

With your support, our goal is to raise $550,000 on the day.

Casual Registered Nurse – General Practice (QLD)

We are seeking a Registered Nurse with general practice experience to join our friendly and supportive medical practice on a casual basis.

This position is ideal for a motivated and reliable nurse who enjoys working in a busy GP setting and is available to provide cover as required.

About the Role

Working closely with our GPs and clinical team, your responsibilities will include:

Treatment room duties

Immunisations (including childhood and adult schedules)

Chronic disease management support

Health assessments (including 75+, health checks and care plans)

Wound care and clinical procedures

Infection control and cold chain management

Assisting with recalls, results and follow-ups

Stock management and clinical documentation

Essential Criteria

Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse

Previous general practice nursing experience (essential)

Sound knowledge of MBS-related nursing activities

Strong communication and organisational skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Understanding of RACGP Standards and QLD infection control requirements

Experience with Best Practice software (desirable but not essential)

Cervical Cancer Awareness Week

Preventing cervical cancer has never been easier, we’re sharing a simple message: 1+5= cervical cancer protection.

What does this mean?

All that is required is:

one (1) dose of HPV vaccine for young people ≤ 25 years + cervical screening every

five (5) years for women and people with a cervix from age 25–74 years.
