Let Me Walk In Your Shoes

Let Me Walk In Your Shoes Let Me Walk In Your Shoes is built to bridge the gap, open up the conversation and help shift the stigma around suicide and mental health.

'Let Me Walk In Your Shoes' is a local not-for-profit organisation built to raise awareness around mental health. We aim to create a safe space to educate, inspire and generate change within the community. Within this space, we hope to connect people affected directly or indirectly by mental illness through compassion and understanding, and by providing a solid support program for people from all walks of life. We wholeheartedly believe that no one is alone, and that it is okay to not be okay. THE BEHIND STORY

‘Let Me Walk In Your Shoes’ is the rose that grew from the ashes. At the beginning of 2016, we lost our dear Sophie to suicide. The ripple effect of such a tragedy has seen an entire community stand together in a bid to shed light on the issue of mental health, which has been stigmatised for generations. Sophie's older sister, Amy Quattromani, along with her dear friends Zepha Jackson, Kiah Stone, Kyla Schaan and Kiisha O'Connor formed the group out of necessity, knowing that there are people like Sophie still suffering, with nowhere to turn. 'Let Me Walk In Your Shoes’ allows people the opportunity to share their stories and alleviate their burdens in a safe and non-judgmental environment. We talk, we listen, and we build lifetime friendships. OUR MISSION

Our mission is to not only open up the conversation around suicide and mental illness but to create waves within the Sunshine Coast community that will spread across Australia and eventually become global. Mental illness affects the humanity, yet has remained a ghostly spectre that very few are able to recognise and understand. From little things big things grow, and by uniting together as a solid entity we provide the perfect breeding ground for change, where we can open our eyes, ears, and hearts to those suffering or those who know someone suffering and gain a wider perspective, helping us to understand the issue even more. Through our free weekly yoga classes, monthly self-care workshops, storytelling and future events to come, we aim to bring the community together and continue the "movement of change within mental health". In honour of the beautiful Sophie Quattromani and others suffering in silence, let us find our voices. Let us find our light. Let us build each other up, and walk together...in each other's shoes.
