Christic esotericism speaks of the seven spirits before the throne of the Lamb. These seven cosmocrators or seven intelligent principles, which in Hinduism are the Dhyan-Chohans (which literally means Lords of Light) are the most elevated devas or gods who correspond to the archangels of Christian religion. In the end, they are the divine intelligences responsible for the superintendence of a deuterocosmos or solar system.
The people of the world have attributed the governorship of the seven main planets to these cosmocrator spirits, and have given them the names of their great divinities. They all believed in their relative influence, and astronomy distributed the ancient skies among them, and attributed to them in succession the governorship of the seven days of the week. From this come the diverse ceremonies of the magical week, and the septenary religious worship of the sacraments.
There is an old adage which literally says, “God is difficult to comprehend because first it is one, then three, four, and then seven.” Creation comes about from the perfect multiple unity; it’s created by three forces, bases itself upon the quaternary, and is organized or ordered with the seven.
