VIPKids aims to support young people's social and emotional intelligence by helping them develop strategies to minimise anxiety and build self-esteem. As a teacher of over 30 years, I feel really fortunate to have taught, supported and worked with, close to 1000 children and families. My passion is connecting with children, to help strengthen their emotional and social learning to assist with student success, engagement and achievement. I have seen first-hand how difficult it is for many children to succeed at school due to low self-esteem and anxiety. My pedagogy as a teacher and educator has always been to ‘make a difference’ and ‘bring the best out in every child’. I am a trained facilitator of the ‘Peaceful Kids’ Program. It is an eight-week Mindfulness and Positive Psychology based program which aims to lessen anxiety and stress and increase resilience in children. The program gives children the skills, practice and support to utilize coping strategies and build emotional resilience. It was created by Georgina Manning, Director of Wellbeing for Kids. As a facilitator of the Peaceful Kids Intervention Program and experienced teacher, I am excited to be able to empower children to self-manage their anxiety and develop life-long coping strategies. Good mental health allows children and young people to develop the resilience to cope with whatever life throws at them and grow into well-rounded, healthy adults. Peaceful Kids is available to families in Sydney South. Lynnette Pinkerton
