Happy anniversary to the number 1 in my life. 9 years of marriage, 18 years together and two kids later, my love continues to grow each and every day.

Mel has put up with a lot from me over the years and supported me and the kids through a tonne of struggles. The latest is me recovering after a cholecystectomy. Our love for each other, and the partnership we have built has allowed us to overcome everything so far. There’s always work to be done though, and growth in any relationship is important to continue to overcome any adversity that is thrown our way.

Thankfully the kids have many of Mel’s traits though, otherwise we would be in trouble.

We don’t do much with our anniversary at the moment as we have different priorities after so much time off work these past 4-5 years. So today is a pub lunch with the kids and some family colouring in ChatGPT created from some of my favourite photos. 🤣

For some reason, I’ve seen a lot of judgement of other runners on my social media feeds lately. It doesn’t take much to be a good human, in fact, it’s more effort to be a prick!

So, to keep it simple, if you see someone doing their best and not hurting anyone, just scroll past if you have nothing nice to say.

The running community overall is extremely kind, caring, compassionate and accomodating. Let’s keep it that way.

I’m really nervous but also quite proud to present my ideas at the Frontline Mental Health Conference on the 2nd and 3rd of March. Australian & New Zealand Mental Health Association

This will be my first presentation at a conference. I’ve had to learn what a poster presentation is, along with how to create and present one 😬. I am excited to present my ideas though and learn from this experience.

You can still get tickets both online and in person:

I didn’t know I was getting some hair removal therapy while they yeeted my gallbladder. I hope they don’t charge me extra for that. 😬

Came out of the anaesthetics a bit funky, dropping sats and heart rate a little but on the ward now. Feeling a bit sore and sorry but excited to be pain free and get on with recovery.

Thank you for all the messages and well wishes. A massive thank you to my incredible wife for doing all the house and child duties this last week while I work long hours before leave. And to my dad who came up to help out at home while I’m out of action.

The rainy and gloomy days are some of the most important runs you’ll do.

✅ Builds resilience

✅ Motivates you to finish faster 😬

✅ Can be the most fun and memorable runs

✅ Keeps consistency and builds a good habit

Today was most likely my last run in long time as I head back to work tomorrow, then to rip my gallbladder out after that. I’m thankful that I managed to get out of bed today for Parkrun. It was my fasted 5k since September and built on my pace from last week CJC handicap run.

So keep up the consistency in your exercise, and the more adverse the conditions, the better your resilience will be come race/event day.

I always remember having a love for nature and just being in the bush. Yesterday afternoons run was incredibly beautiful as the sun was going down, surrounded by birds and cows at the Camden Town Farm.

I even managed to have a conversation with a twitcher (bird watcher) as we were both admiring the finches have a feed.

Sometimes it’s the little things in life that can bring joy. Even when running, we can slow down a little and appreciate the wonderful things around us.

It’s been a while since I introduced myself and explain what this page is all about.

The Running Paramedic was born out of my recovery from physical and psychological injuries I experienced at work as a Paramedic. I decided to share my lived experience and return to running as a way to breakdown stigma and show people they aren’t alone.

Many of us experience mental health challenges in life which can lead to feeling isolated and out of options. I want to change that! I want people to know there is light at the end of the tunnel and you can come out the other end stronger.

Through the running paramedic, I share as much of my journey as possible in an attempt to normalise conversations around mental health. I share the highs and the lows of life.

Like everyone, I wear a number of hats in my life:

✅ Husband

✅ Dad

✅ Paramedic

✅ Mental Health Advocate

If you’re new to my page, leave a comment and say ‘hi’ back.

If you’ve been with my from the beginning, thank you for following me and supporting me on my many journeys.
