The 10-10 rule is a well known decluttering technique, it’s setting a timer and removing 10 items in 10 minutes. It works because it removes overwhelm and gives your brain a clear start and a clear finish.
But I’ve been thinking about something different. A way to calm both our homes and our minds.
What if we spent just 4 minutes on each pillar of H.O.M.E?
4 minutes of stretching or breathing. 4 minutes clearing just one surface. 4 minutes being fully present. 4 minutes connecting with someone.
Just 16 minutes a day - together or spread throughout the day.
Small intentional actions like this makes our brain feel safe, not overwhelmed, and it reduces our decision making fatigue. By doing this 4-4 method, you’re doing something that feels manageable which makes you far more likely to repeat it.
Just 16 minutes can build momentum, which over time can create a calmer home and a calmer mind.
