🔔 Thriving Kids Program – Key Updates

What families need to know:

• From 1 October 2026, children aged 8 and under with developmental delay and/or autism with low to moderate support needs will start to access support through Thriving Kids.

• The program will start rolling out on 1 October 2026.

• It will be fully rolled out by 1 January 2028. Children aged 8 and under enrolled in the NDIS prior to 1 January 2028 with developmental delay and/or autism with low to moderate support, needs to be subject to reassessment under the eligibility criteria in place prior to 1 January 2028.

• Until then, NDIS access remains unchanged for children in this group.

Here are some simple ways to help your child settle in:

✨ Visual routines: Simple visual schedules help kids know what’s coming next, making the day feel calmer and more predictable.
✨ Calm‑down strategies: Having a plan (deep breaths, quiet corners, movement breaks) helps kids reset when things feel overwhelming.
✨ Sensory tools: Headphones, fidgets, or chewies can support regulation and make school environments feel safer.
✨ Clear communication: Sharing needs, preferences, or triggers with teachers helps everyone support the child better.
✨ Celebrating small wins: Every step forward counts. Noticing progress builds confidence and keeps motivation high.

💬 NDIS Q&A, your questions answered: Can a new plan manager pay an unpaid invoice that the previous plan manager didn’t process?

✅ Yes, it’s possible!
As long as:
✔ The invoice is correct
✔ It fits within the budget and plan items

💡Tip: Always ask for a printout of your budget and invoices paid to date. When you switch to a new plan manager, they can only see the amount spent and remaining balance not past invoices.
