Choosing an implant for breast augmentation involves understanding the different materials, how they are structured, and how they may behave over time.

Cohesive silicone gel implants are made with a silicone gel that holds its form. This type of implant is designed to maintain its shape even if the outer shell is damaged.

Saline implants are silicone shells filled with a sterile saltwater solution. They are filled during surgery through a valve once the implant shell is positioned.

Each option has specific characteristics, advantages, limitations and potential risks.

Over time, repeated sun exposure can contribute to visible changes in the skin, some of which may require medical attention.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a medical treatment that may be considered for certain diagnosed skin conditions related to cumulative sun exposure.

It is not a cosmetic procedure. PDT is used in specific clinical contexts and only after thorough assessment by a qualified health professional.

Conditions that may be considered for PDT include:

Actinic keratosis – rough, scaly areas that may feel persistent or sensitive

Squamous cell carcinoma in situ – early, surface-level changes in skin cells

Superficial basal cell carcinoma – shallow lesions that can appear flat or slow-growing
