Akka Project Presents Masala Nights has you covered. We have locked in a DJ that is sure to get us hitting that dance floor. Akka Project, is all about brining play and fun to India so we want to do the exact to Masala Nights! Hit me with some of your favourite song to dance too, you know that song that just makes you want to bust out some moves!

Masala Nights- What is our goal?

Every visit to our Year 10–12 students in Bangalore reminds us why this work matters. Their classrooms are a mix of old brick rooms with small windows and converted shipping containers: hot, cramped spaces where 30 teens squeeze in shoulder‑to‑shoulder. Most days, learning spills outside simply because there isn’t enough room inside.

For many of these young people, home is a single small room shared with family. Space is precious. So when they step outside to learn, they treasure every bit of openness and fresh air.

But we want to go further than “making do” with outdoor space.
We want to create a place that inspires learning, creativity and belonging.

Our vision:
An outdoor classroom with comfortable seating, shaded areas, and walls covered in student artwork, a space for lessons, group projects, quiet reflection, and the kind of thinking that needs room to breathe.

To build this, we need $7,000 and that’s exactly what "Masala Nights" is raising funds for.

On 30 May, we’re hosting a vibrant evening of colour, music, food and community.

Our Akka teens are now the snow can masters! Bringing colour and fun to a Friday night at Boronia Park Public Schools picnic. All profits went to Akka Project. Already our teens are working together for a common cause! We are working hard to raise funds to build a new classroom and this is an amazing first step! Our Akka Teens Are Changing Lives and Being Recognised for It

Proud moment for our whole Akka Project community. One of our Akka teens has just been recognised by the NSW Government as a finalist in the *Ones to Watch – Women of the Year* awards and this honour belongs to every young person who has been part of our journey.

This story isn’t about one child being exceptional. It’s about what happens when young people are invited to lead with compassion, curiosity, and courage. When they step into classrooms in Bangalore not as “helpers”, but as friends, learners, and global citizens. When they realise that connection not charity is what truly changes lives.

Our Akka teens have shown that:

- friendships can grow across continents
- play and learning can bridge cultures
- compassion can be lived, not just spoken about
- young people can lead with purpose long before adulthood

We’re getting ready for "Masala Nights" on the 30th of May, our vibrant community fundraiser supporting education, play, and opportunity for children in Bangalore and we would love your help!

We’re seeking donations for our auction and raffle: gift vouchers, experiences, hampers, products, family‑friendly items, or anything that showcases the heart of your business.

Every contribution directly supports library rebuilds, outdoor classrooms, play corners, and essential learning resources for students who deserve every chance to thrive.

A huge thank you to Qantas for supporting our July trip to Bangalore with additional luggage allowance. This generosity means our team can carry even more story books, menstrual underwear, toys, games, puzzles, and board games for the children and communities we’re partnering with. Small acts of support create big ripples of impact, and we’re so grateful.

We can't wait to see the exciting on the students faces as they discover all the items that have been donated from Australia for their classrooms!
