Like so many of you, I woke up this morning with a heavy, sick feeling after the tragedy in Bondi yesterday.
When I sat down to write this, I wrote it, rewrote it, cried, made a cup of tea, and rewrote it again.
I don’t have the right words for a moment like this, but I’ll do my best.
There is a deep, layered grief moving through our country right now.
Grief for the families who have lost loved ones.
Grief for those who were there and witnessed something no one should ever have to see.
Grief for everyone who saw the images on their screens and felt that shock, fear, and deep sense of unsafety settle into their body.
Events like this shake us. They rattle our sense of certainty and leave a mark on all of us.
Today, I simply want to acknowledge the enormous pain so many are carrying, and to offer my heartfelt condolences to everyone affected.
Australia is hurting. And when one community hurts, we all feel it.
Please take gentle care of yourselves and your families today. Reach out, connect, talk, rest — whatever helps you feel a little more anchored in a moment that feels so unsettling.
With love,
Marina, Brendon and the team 💔
