Last Wednesday was national wombat day!
This little joey's mother was sadly hit by a car but is being taken care of by the dedicated members of Sydney Wildlife (Sydney Metropolitan Wildlife Services)
Dr Sarah has a particular passion for wildlife, and while this little guy has no eye issues, Dr Sarah couldn't resist a cuddle with him. ❤️

This little pocket potato is Cookie, who came with her sister for emotional support ❤️

Cookie was referred to us by the The Unusual Pet Vets after her owner noticed rapid onset of redness and cloudiness in her eyes with also becoming sensitive to light.

Cookie was a very good guinea pig and allowed Dr Sarah to perform a full eye exam. She was diagnosed with stromal abscesses in both her eyes. This means she had ulcers that became infected and penetrated the deeper layer of the cornea.
Cookie was prescribing topical antibiotics, and after a few weeks the infection had cleared up and the inflammation was resolving!

As you can see, Cookie was spoilt with lots of carrot treats to make her vet visit a bit less scary and enjoyable 🥕
We love seeing exotic and small mammals, so if you have a slightly ' different' pet that you have concerns for, please get in contact with us 🐹🐭🐰

Last weekend some of our nurses participated in a large charity dog walk for Flynn’s Walk, an organisation that aims to bring awareness about su***de in the veterinary industry and raises money to support mental health tailored for vets and nurses.

Sadly, the vet industry has the highest percentage of deaths from su***de compared to any other job sector.
Over a hundred vets and nurses walked their dogs around Lake Burley Griffin and it was a fantastic day of community and support.
Sami, Myffy and Tesni were definitely tired after the 5kms, but it was a beautiful day for an amazing cause!

Happy ( For yesterday)
International dog day is dedicated to celebrating the special bond between humans, and our loyal companions.
Most people know dogs are colour blind, but they are only red green colour blind, like most colour blind humans.
They actually see in shades of blue and yellow
Dogs also have more rod cells than humans which gives them superior motion detection, and better night vision than us!
Below we have our nurses with their much loved good boys and girls
Nurse Sophie with Rollo and Auri
Nurse Fiona with Ben, Ziggy and Max
Nurse Casey with Lucy
Nurse Oliva's Tasha
And Nurse Katie's rescue bull arab Sami
