Did you know the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing is currently consulting on the definition of an ‘NDIS provider’?
Much more than an exercise in semantics, the finalised definition of an NDIS provider could impact which providers need to register with the NDIS Commission.
The NDIS Registration Taskforce recommended that the government amend the definition of an ‘NDIS provider’ and require all providers who meet that definition to be registered under a new, more proportional registration system.
Currently, any individual or business paid by NDIS funds is technically an NDIS provider. The Taskforce recommended creating a more specific definition of an NDIS provider that excludes mainstream outlets (e.g., Bunnings, Kmart, etc.), where people might spend some of their NDIS funding.
