We are born 👶🤫 with the total amount of hair follicles we will ever have over our lifetime. There may be about 5 million on our body, but our head has about 100,000 follicles. As we age, some follicles stop producing hair, which is how baldness or hair thinning occurs.
Hair grows about 1cm per month on average. That's a grand total of about 12cm per year for the hair on your head.
Telogen Effluvium is condition were more than normal amounts of hair fall out. A major stressful event such as childbirth 👶🤱🤰 or major surgery can interrupt and stop the growth phase of some hairs.
Hair Physiology 💇♀️💇♂️
Each hair follicle cycles through three phases:
Anagen phase—active growth (three to seven years).
Catagen phase—transition/growth halted (two to four weeks).
Telogen phase—resting (three to four months).
Hair is continually shed and renewed in alternating cycles of growth, rest, fallout, and renewed growth. Clinical studies have shown optimal nutrition 🍎🍓🥑 to the hair and scalp is beneficial—thus promoting the appearance and feel of thicker, fuller hair.
Research indicates the hair follicle requires multiple nutrients and minerals for optimal vitality and abundance. These can be ingested or topical. Ingested minerals include omega 3 & 6, Zinc, Iron, B5 & biotin, keratin and Vitamin C. Topical nutrients are what hair growth products should include to remineralise the follicle and scalp. 😋😊
With the hair shampoo I used, it nourishes the follicle and revitalises any dormant follicles so that there are not only more, but they are healthier and stronger. Leaving it looking thick, lustrous and silky smooth! Yum! 😋😊😁
