The flu is a virus that can infect your nose, throat and sometimes your lungs. Symptoms include:
Fever (high temperature)
Cough
Sore throat
Runny or stuffy nose
Muscle or body aches
Headaches
Fatigue (tiredness)

The virus spreads easily through coughing, sneezing and close contact, and can start suddenly and may last for a week or more.
