After more than 30 years, Inclusive Sport SA (Active Inclusion) held our final Rapidswim program on Saturday. Rapidswim is a legacy program for us and although we will no longer be running it, we are very grateful that Minda Inc. will be running it in 2023.

Rapidswim has assisted thousands of South Australians living with disability to learn how to swim in a supported environment or access aquatic based therapy. It is a much loved and respected program here in SA.

The last few years have been extremely tough for Rapidswim due to COVID with pool closures, staff shortages and illness. After careful consideration and 100% commitment to find a home for Rapidswim without losing any venues or participants, we are so pleased to have Minda taking on the program into the future.

It is a bittersweet feeling to have when you lose a legacy program, but we am so grateful it has a sustainable future.

Learn to Swim & Aquatic Therapy

Rapidswim’s Learn to Swim programs are swimming lessons for people of all ages with an integration difficulty, who require more support than they can obtain from a regular learn to swim program. Lessons are built around developing water awareness, confidence, safety and basic swimming skills.

Our Learn to Swim Programs are conducted at Noarlunga Leisure Centre, Minda Aquatic Centre Brighton, Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre, Golden Grove Swim Centre and Thebarton Aquatic Centre. Sessions are 30 minutes in length and are run on a weekly basis in conjunction with the school terms.

The Rapidswim Aquatic Therapy program provides water based therapy designed to improve areas that impact the everyday functioning for children with disabilities. Our ongoing 1:1 aquatic therapy sessions with a qualified Therapist will provide a supportive environment to support our clients toward achieving their goals.

Our Aquatic Therapy Programs are conducted at Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre, Women’s and Children’s Hospital and Minda Aquatic Centre in Brighton. Sessions are 30 or 45 minutes in length and are run on a weekly basis in conjunction with the school terms.
